The Giant of Provence has been decapitated somewhat by the high winds, but it's still an enticing stage:

A couple of small climbs earlier in the stage, hors d'ouvres for the main course:

Weather will be sunny, dry, but, crucially, windy:
"SUNNY BUT VERY STRONG NORTHERLY WIND.
In the plain, the Mistral will reach 60km/h but will become violent on the last part of the ascent of Le Ventoux with gusts up to 110 km/h. Temperatures will also be very cold feeling.
There won't be any rain during the stage."
A true northerly would mean crosswinds for much of the stage, with cross-tail winds towards the end. Expect the usual show from French riders on Bastille Day, and let's hope for some fireworks on the road.

Just hoping that the fans up there hold on tight to their animals. We don't want flying boars and crocodiles flying into the riders' faces.0

Quintana to get caught behind a split and Froome to smash the climb.0

Hoping Quintana shows some signs of life today. Otherwise, the tour is likely to be a bit of a snoozefest.0

He's now 3 under and odds on to go 4 under after 8.
In the wisdom, the ASO have kept the roll out time the same, so the start will be the same.
Given that the stage was scheduled to finish a bit earlier in any case, we could be looking at a 3-30pm BST finish.
Great news.....not."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
ASO has to keep to the same schedule. The road closures are planned and local support lined up. They can't change it so we can all get back from our meetings.
Just avoid the result and watch the recording (you are recording this right?).It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -

Always.
I was thinking more of the French having the day off.
Anyhows, the way things are shaping up, with a large, mediocre breakaway having a huge gap and the peloton cruising, it's going to be a slow burner, if it ignites at all."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

For those using ITV4 I think they have moved coverage to start at 1pm, UK time.
I'm quite happy about it - I will be able to get to bed before 23.30.
13 rider break has just over 13 mins on the peloton after 43kmHead Hands Heart Lungs Legs0 -
Presumably Froome is tired after yesterday...but so must everyone else if no-one is mentioning any attacks off the peloton.Half man, Half bike0

So we are expecting a 3pm finish?
Should be home by 2.30...
Weird that the peloton are seemingly having an easy day, would have thought they'd want to see how knackered Froome is from yesterday and make things hard.0 -
That's probably still going to happen...Half man, Half bike0

Does anyone have the stats on speed? Is this the slowest tour since the 80s?0
