Gurning Tommy V, "the french housewife's favourite" has bridged the gap.
68 kms to go, 2'26 back to the club run
33.9 km/h average0 -
the tour in 1998 had one stage where they just trundled round. admittedly it was almost a protest ride....0
-
33.9km/h average - I actually could keep up!
(assuming they let me sit in the bunch the whole time)0 -
I'm certain Voeckler won't win... but I had £5 on him at 301/1.. so I hope he does!Follow me on Twitter - http://twitter.com/scalesjason - All posts are strictly my personal view.0

I, somehow, expected Kiryenka and Stannard to shoot the place up from day 1, then mountain trains take over. Shows how little i know.0
-
Is that Teklehaimanot on the front for DiDa - looks like the pace might be picking up a bit.0
-
Well, the Sprint trains are all going to be well rested, so I'm predicting chaos in the last 10k...0

It must be bad... decided to go bushwhack the garden for 30 minutes... and it's 30+ degrees here.
Did I miss anything?“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

This means that the geology changes from the very ancient metamorphic paleozoic rocks of Brittany and into the late Cretaceous tuffeau (limestone), which is characteristic of the Loire valley. I know nothing about wine but I assume this has some significance in Loire valley wine making.
The geology here has more in common with Dorset, which also has a lot of limestone, and the rocks are about 90 million years old.
(Realised just how rusty my geology is!)
Following on from this - you can now see in the helicopter shots how we've gone from the rolling countryside into flatter plains as we leave the north behind and move into Loire.0 -

In other news.... Chris Evans has just quit Top Gear.'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP0
