Yep, that crash looked awful. Fair bit of skin will have been left on the ground.

Incredible to think he's never worn yellow before. It used to be standard for the best sprinter to spend a week in yellow.

Nasty crash there in a narrow finish. @GeraintThomas86 went down in avoidance. We're hopeful he's okay. Updates to follow #TDF2016

Overhead shot really showed how nasty that crash was. Really pleased for Cavendish.

    Brutal crash, was the Kristoff?

No, he was top 10 I think.

Was a Katusha rider at fault for the crash? One of their riders was throwing elbows at 1 km to go so wouldn't be a surprise.

Looks like Sam Bennet might be out with a broken collarbone. Nasty crash.

Thought it might have been him. He was well back in the sprint then.

    Bennett in the crash?

If it was him, it looked like a broken CB.

EBH slammed into the tarmac too.

Haven't seen Cav win that comfortably for a while.

Musing whether his likely leg speed training helped for what was a big tailwind sprint.

Bennet is confrimed as having crashed. Lost a fair bit of skin and finished the stage holding one hand off the bars. Not good. Won't be surprised if he is out. Sh1t.

For all the criticism of Cav he knows how to keep a sponsor happy.

Delighted for Cav, yellow jersey finally!

First yellow jersey for Qhubeka too, right? That's some achievement.

Ah come on that's just dull.

Flecha in dodgy shirt, his mate's trousers clashing with the tinkoff bus!

Brilliant - my one year old is now very concerned by Daddy shouting at the TV.

Spotted £2 left in my bet fair account this morning and stuck it on Cav, so that's netted me £19 :)

I thought it was very non-sweary, then his daughter popped up...

Guess it's too early in the race for Cav to have got riled by everything yet though - he usually needs a few days of being cheesed off to reach full quotable levels.

Cycling news reporting big time splits in the peloton including GC contenders.

Take with pinch of salt, given the crash.
