Not sure if serious. Wouldn't you be better off posting in a bodybuilding forum?0

How old are you? If you're young and healthy, eat a balanced diet with plenty of protein and get yourself in the gym 2 or 3 times a week doing weights.0

2 minutes googling "natural steroids" suggests your best course of action would be to eat spinach. Eat spinach and ride - something to live your life by - wish I'd discovered that earlier before I was too old.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0

There was a guy that used to do that and it seemed to work very well. There was even a cartoon series about him...0 -
In a past life I printed books on behalf of a publisher. These books were authored by a body builder ( now deceased) on how to use and take steroids effectively
The guy himself was genuine, knowledgeable and was a known authority about the subject matter and while he carried substantial muscle mass his relatively weak cardio fitness was clear. One of the delivery drivers, George was in his mid 70's and liked the run to Wiltshire. On arrival George starts to hand ball the boxes off the van and carry them into hallway and the body builder couldn't keep up with George as his cardio wasn't as strong as his physical appearance led you to believe.
That was 15-18 years ago and underlines the point of why the perceived need for steroids to add strength when the real aspect which needs addressing is education.
Being new to cycling, just get out and cycle as much as you can for the first twelve months as your body needs to adapt and build a base fitness.“Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring”

Google it.
In short, its a free-weight lifting programme designed to guide you through weightlifting using compound exercises for people who have little experience with free-weights. There is an App that keeps track of progress.
Designed to be used three times a week and each workout lasts about 30/45mins depending on resting times. The guy who runs it recommends not doing much cardio between days...but its designed to get strength.0 -
Eat a good balance of macro nutrients
- see http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/macronu ... ulator.htm
learn about the muscle groups you want to train and follow a plan that allows enough hard work and recovery in a week.
get your technique riight, make small incremental gains in what you lift, keep the weight high and the reps low.
In about a year if you are lucky you'll put on a few kg of muscle.
Avoid all the quick routes, like drugs, growth hormone, and even creatine. They will mostly scew you up. Be happy that you grew your muscle slowly and well, stand proudly next the over-trapped 'roid user knowiing you can out lift him in every category and that you haven't pumped yourself full of carcinogenic chemicals0 -
oh thanks a lot guys!!!0
-
Also - decide what your real goal is:
Do you want to add muscle or do you want to get stronger?
You can do a lot of one with only a little of the other..0 -
Spinach works well

what are your goals Jim222? are you after increasing something like leg strength? or is it general conditioning?0

jim222 wrote:i want both
You don't get off that easily - if you could 1 thing to make you bigger but no stronger, and a different thing to make you stronger but not bigger, which would you do?
And don't say "both" because in this hypothetical situation, doing both means you stay as you are.0 -

had similar experience,I used to work as a fisherman on a shell fish boat catching crab/lobsters,we used to work 800 pots a day, these weigh 30-40kgs each,we used to work with 3 people on deck,at one point a guy who was a roid head bobybuilder came with use as the last crewman had left,he looked like he could pick up the earth, but he only lasted a week with us the job killed him,he literally went with his tail between his legs0 -
"..literally went with his tail between his legs"
I've heard that steroids have some unfortunate side effects.... Or did you not actually mean literally??0 -

i'm 19. yes, i think gym is better than cycling. what about supplements?
Stick to the gym if your goal is to build leg muscle. It sounds like all you want is big legs, cycling is not the way to go about doing that.0 -
A natural bodybuilder will be both big and strong. What they may not have is supporting muscles for specific tasks. e.g. throwing 30kg fishing pots around. A roid user will often have ligament and tendon issues, as well as a lot of water in their muscles.0

I really wouldn't bother as long as you are fit any healthy life is too short. It can lead to various long term injuries and when it comes down to it your body tends towards its natural physique.0

Still don't understand why this guy is even on this forum....0

There is no law that says ya can't pump iron AND ride. Want bigger muscles? Weight training is the way to go. There are some riders whose legs grow pretty impressive from cycling but it's not the rule. Big muscles are all about weights if ya want big guns. Cycling is all about riding bicycles and not big muscles.0
