The startlist is truly phenomenal. When was the last time we saw a field that strong for a one week race?
“Road racing was over and the UCI had banned my riding positions on the track, so it was like ‘Jings, crivvens, help ma Boab, what do I do now? I know, I’ll go away and be depressed for 10 years’.”

    The Vikings are coming!
  • Gianni Meersman has to win today doesn't he? One of the rules of cycling.

Like G has to crash at the crucial part of MSR

I'm curious to see how My Man Lopez does in this, hopefully he'll be given a bit of freedom by Astana. He's ahead of where Aru was at the same age and I think is going to be a big star.

Lil Louis is leading Lampre for the first time too.

Is 'dishy' actually still a word?

Porte, Dumoulin & Contador have also had colds recently.
  • ^Porte is a bit of a sickly child, it has to be said

Dish, let's hope that Purito has been chugging back the Day Nurse (WADA-approved version)

You'd need a lot of stamina if you went around punching everyone that misused literally.

Thanks - on now but no live pictures just yet.

Man, that's a contenders line up - are they all going to race it? Just seen Hugh Carthy listed for Caja Rural.

Nice looking first stage to get things going.

Dron, Mas, Meyer - 1min40s off front.

Wasn't it Mas that did a somersault into barbed wire a few weeks back - glad to see he is back

14km to go. Sky at the front as the peloton heads for the finish in the sunshine.
  • RonBRonB Posts: 3,984
9km to go and it looks like we're heading for a bunch sprint as some of the teams organise their trains behind Sky.

Thurau from Wanty has a go at an attack, covered by Roache as the road ramps up with 5km to go.
  • RonBRonB Posts: 3,984
Roache out on his own with 4 to go. Peloton starting to get organised.
