    Swift to Lampre. Apparently.

    What a terrible move.

Chinese money talks? Hope it works out well for him, he seems like an unfulfilled talent in need of a change of scene / change of luck.

  • If people think he's mediocre just now, wait till he's racing and being coached by Lampre
  • The only surprise here is that Sky took so long to get shut of him

He's strong though, and with a fair old kick, just never ever times it right. Good for 3rd places where he should get 1sts!

Which goes to show what he can do when he's given responsibility. His results have suffered at Sky because they are usually going for the GC in races where he can win stages, so he gets little or no support, and has domestique duties on the days which don't suit him.

I hope he does well at Lampre, it'll be interesting to see how he does when he gets more support.

Plus people persist in measuring him as a sprinter. He certainly ain't, even if he did win some group sprints in his first couple of seasons. He's a rider who can still be there with a fast finish after a very long hard race with a few lumps to take the freshness out of better sprinters legs. Problem is that's a crowded market these days...

    But that's still a sprinter...

I'm quite looking forward to see how he gets on, I think he is actually a lot faster in a sprint then he's often given credit for but his positioning isn't great. It'd be good to see him race with a team supporting him and hopefully he has a crack at more of the classics in 2017.

He's def on my MM2017 shortlist anyway so his season's off to a good start even at this early stage.
  • Didn't people say Meintjes to Lampre was a bad move?

I like Swifty, think he's a resilient rider who probably hasn't been given the chances he deserves

He's been the leader in 2 monuments, he's been lead sprinter in the Giro, he's been team leader in various other races. Hardly not had a chance.

What he means is he might get a shot to sprint at the Tour.

Actually I think Swifty could have a half decent crack at the green jersey if Sagan has an off year.

I think it'll be a good move for him. At the moment he's a bit of a poor man's Bling.

    Claire's Accessories if you like.

Yes, see previous page. Though I did call him the Honey Badger. Also Grmay.

CN reporting that both Igor Anton, who is out of contract at Dimension Data, and Ion Izagirre, who has a year remaining at Movistar, are moving to the Bahrain team.

How shameful! I didn't know he was honey badger. I feel small.

This could be an interesting move to watch next year - JV always spoken very highly of the Honey Badger, super strong guy and can win in a range of races...but perhaps hasn't had the success his strength suggests. Is he lacking tactically or have cannondale held him back?

Have Movistar hired any decent rider for next year? or got rid of some?

The latter by the look of it

    Shame.

I struggle to follow these real time since it's too much like work but it looks like we'll have a decent classics team in Bora, Trek and Quick Step, with lotto doing their usual tier 2 stuff wit the other lotto.
