    Thanks for the update PB.
    Two notables for me this month, managed one solo ton at >30kph avg speed then the next week did my longest ever ride of just over 250kms. Chuffed, but I was supposed to be training for some evening 10s... :lol:
    Well done on your June efforts. You *should* be chuffed :D

    Plus 3 places just for doing 2 instead of 1 in June!

    Touch and go as to whether I will get one in July, have a non-cycling holiday plus yet another deadline on my part time masters, but after that I'm hoping for a good August and September to make up for it...

    Good stuff indeed on both of those!

    Looks like the breakaway is 20 minutes down the road and no doubt they'll take the race, but after a "busy" July I am well positioned for the all important "best of the rest" peloton sprint... :mrgreen:

    Thanks both - quieter for me last month due to the school holidays starting but mightily impressed by some of the numbers being stacked up...

    Annoyingly now I finally have some evenings free and can squeeze in a few evening 100ks, it's already getting dark at 9... Hoping I'll still have a decent August and September but some of you lot are busy lapping the rest of us :D
  • Dear Polly

    Pardon the public posting - I can't get the private messaging on here to work anymore - but you seem to have missed my two century rides last month from your July rider totals scoreboard. I've also had to update my own log tonight with my sole August 100km (seen as it's the last day of the month) but please take it on my word that I had logged those July rides prior to the end of last month too.

    Best wishes
    MCH

    I think the private messaging works OK, it's because I hadn't logged in for ages and read your PMs, they stay in your outbox until the recipient reads them.

    Must admit I was confused.com because on the last update I did I saw there are two rides for you for June but nothing on your first post on the first page... have only just realised /remembered you have a second list of rides, for July I must have only looked at your first one on the first page, sorry! Any chance you can delete that first post?

    Cheers...

    Runner2cycling stretches his lead with another superb month of riding, DeadCalm & Durrin stay as a two-man chase group with the second pair of chasers being marcusjb and GdSMartin.
    Kudos to whitehart for getting his August ride in with ten minutes to spare! :lol:
  • Limited damage... did lots of short steep rides in Scotland, but very little in the way of centuries

    September has been bonkers. Rainy season and a job! I'm still in with 6 rides completed during the month. I will update the details as soon as I have time to think.

    I've got one ride so far in October so I'll probably complete the challenge (if I can update here in time) but I'm going to be drifting back through the pack. A bonkers bonk? I have gained a whole new respect for folks who combine serious miles with a full time job.

    6 in a month is better than any I have managed this year!!

    I've not managed one for October yet as I ran out of time this morning, and I'm fully booked at weekends for the rest of the month and work is mental. I am thinking of doing a pan flat 20km loop near my office and doing it 5 times in the dark just so I don't go out. I'm so happy to still be in it at this point, I'm not going out now.

    Apologies for the belated update; combination of wife's 40th (she partly celebrated by doing her first imperial ton :) ), daughter's 9th (purple Frog 69) and a manic three weeks at work after a major IT 'update' (!)... anyway, we're here now.

    Steady as she goes at the top of the leader board with Runner2Cycling pursued by a pair of pairs pursued by a gang of five. Stanthomas passes the lanterne rouge baton on to whitehart!

    My sole October century was a total nightmare - I ended up having to wait till Sunday 30th which was the last possible day I had to do it, even bailed on a good Halloween party on the Saturday so I wouldn't be hungover. My saddle felt funny from the start, at about 35km it got a bit crunchy and I got off and saw the carbon rails had snapped at the back... Now any normal person would have turned around and ridden home (I could have changed saddles and done another 30km to take me over the 100) but for some reason I kept going.

    It gave no support at all and was rolling backwards which put my hips at a much more acute angle than normal - my lower back was agony after 65km on that.

    And my poor gooch has only just about recovered, my gent was numb for hours.

    I AM going to complete the challenge this year!
  • One ride to go to finish off... and if December's weather is half decent, I might even put in a few more over Christmas. I signed up for the Etape du Dales, so I am in for this metric challenge even for 2017

    shocking behaviour from me I havent updated at all this year and its the first year i've managed multiple 100k rides a month, also the first year of joining a club, why did i wait nine years.

    I'm in for 2017 and i'll update, promise :-)

  • Challenge completed, well done to me!

    I suggest for 2017 we go squared!

    100 = 1 point
    200 = 4 points
    300 = 9 points
    400 = 16 points!

    I assume nobody will do more than 400 Km in a day... :-)

    Even a slow rider with knackered lungs can do 600km in a day. :wink:

    As in 24 hours? That is 25 km/h if you never stop. Not sure how many do in practice. Either way, 36 points well deserved. I think it is a good idea to challenge us to go a bit further in our rides.

    EDIT: I think you are talking nonsense. The 24 hour TT record is just over 800 km, that is with time trial equipment by top class athletes. Now you claim that someone in poor health coul do 75 percent of what a top athlete can do.
    My lungs are ok and I cycle 8 thousand miles per year. At best I can do 60-65 percent of what a top athlete do, in terms of power output... The jump to 75 percent is a pretty big one.
    I appreciate in your bubble of long distance audaxers you know a few dozen people who can do that, but those are hardly Joe average... Or folks with shattered lungs

    Well done. Especially so for covering a lot of ground late in the year.
