You can stuff your bloody London. I know plenty of good souls down there but 'stressed' is the word that comes to mind.
Down here we see the Scots as being like piles. If they come down and go back up again they're fine. But if they come down and stay down they're a pain in arse"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
So what rules apply to Kenyans? (This should be interesting too)seanoconn - gruagach craic!0

Died 1784.
That information/view is a tad dated. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Yep, there's a lot more going on in London now. The alternative being Stranraer...
More going does not equal better from what I have observed.
London is only good for working to pay extortionate rent or transport, or visits to shows.
You are welcome to it.The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

"Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."
— Samuel Johnson
Boswell and Johnson were discussing whether or not Boswell's affection for London would wear thin should he choose to live there, as opposed to the zest he felt on his occasional visits. (Boswell lived in Scotland, and visited only periodically.
Hence my comparison to Pinno and Stevo.
I only knew the phrase so thank you for educating me Ballys
Stevo, I did, and I wish I was still there at times (except when I can walk on the beach or hill minutes from my house). Win some, lose some0 -

I am 5 minutes from very quiet country roads to pedal on and stunning scenery. I don't intend to be here in 3 years time but I do intend to be in a similar place which will ostensibly be conducive to cycling.
I can work a 3 or a 4 day week and have a healthy work/life balance. Something that would be impossible in London. I do not aspire to wealth, I live lightly, I spend little happily. The OH and I can sustain our cost of living to the extent that we are comfortable without having to work all hours under the sun. We can work opposing shifts and our children actually see their parents - they have never and won't be palmed of to a some child care facility. These first years are precious and you don't get them back. We won't be rich but affluence is over-rated and without a serious income, London would be a nightmare.
Each time I head down south, I cannot comprehend the almost interminable increase in traffic since the previous visit. I also could not for a moment imagine cycling in that malaise. I don't have to drive to another country to get my kicks In fact you could go less than 30 miles to one of he best off road venues if you lived here. You could be off road in 10 minutes.
I would not swap the ease of going out for a pedal for the world but then we are different animals.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Haha.
Pina, I'm assuming Glentress or somewhere similar???
p.s, project profit is located approximatly 0.5miles away from "the moors".Advocate of disc brakes.0 -
Why would you want to see your children?
Either you are fishing or you are aspiring to staying a bachelor forever.
Because I love them. The Brits don't like children. Well, they basically just tolerate their own. This fact becomes most apparent when you go out to eat, go abroad or you spend time in a soft play area...
I have never known a race of people so eager to stuff their kids into a proxy parent scheme as quick as possible so that they can earn an extra £170 per week just to spend it on child care...!?
@HD. I am presuming that you are referring to the off road venue? - Kirroughtree. If you are referring to moving; the Borders.
Project profit has to be a man cave then. A shower unit and a washing machine needs to be added to my previous list.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

Pinno I have been told that as I insured the date on my cars I am now married so no more bachelor lifestyle...
It was a tongue in cheek comment. I'm not one for children, far too selfish however, on the occasions I have to look after one and we go out for food, she does not get an ipad or shipped to the play area, she gets to have a conversation with the people around. Exceptions being dinner with friends at the house, once she has finished and asked to be excused she can go read her book or similar.0 -

Sergeant Flaneur esq. Has a certain ring to it.
At least you are honest. Maybe 'insured on both cars' date thinks differently...seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

It wasn't meant to elicit a serious response ! But it ain't as bad here as you make out. I only need to pedal for 20 minutes before I'm on country lanes (honest) and we've got a 240 acre woodland/park/municipal golf course (read running track/short course for the XC bike) within 400 yards of our front door, but we're 10 miles from the centre of town where we are spoilt for all the simple pleasures in life - pubs, food, PL football and top notch eye candy :P And a few other things besides.
Strifey doesn't mind either as she doesn't do paid work, although I have suggested that"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -

These are the truest words anyone apart from me has ever said on here - chapeau that man - agree 100%.
Have priorities in life guys - health, happiness, friends & family. I have friends who earn shed loads as directors of this law firm and directors of that accountancy firm but they all look like shyyyt and are as miserable as sin when it comes to their jobs. Missing out on their kids' birthdays, school open days and hangin' on a Saturday with them because they have this or that work related thing to do. And the deep realisation that, at the end of the day, their jobs make not one jot of difference to the world.
Me? Yup - I'm away a lot but when I'm around I dedicate myself to the bambini and TDV. I could earn more but that would mean less family time and I'd probably be shattered/more miserable due to the same.
Pina has the right idea if you ask me.......Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

I'm not so busy that I can't out-post Pinno on here and mess around in Wales every now and then, on top of all the family stuff"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
You won't out-post me. Don't be daft. If you get the feeling that there's a locomotive coming from behind and it's going to tap you on the head and tickle you in the belly as it passes, that's because there is: It's me, your worst nightmare - Pinno.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0
