Anyone who says the reason the Paris shootings were so bad was because "only the bad guys had guns" is a total moron.
I would not feel very safe if everyone in my "local" had a gun about their person. Not that it's a rough pub but all pubs have the occasional dis-agreement in them. Dread to think of the outcome if the protagonists were both carrying guns.
You'd get rid of two plonkers simultaneously?
Maybe not Frank. You may have decided to have a night in front of the telly instead.0 -

I didn't laugh at Thatchers death, it was just a shame it took so long in arriving.
I am not scum, and Donald Trump is a total @rsehole and god forbid he ever become president of the USA.
Just out of curiosity, what do/did you have against Thatcher? I've always thought she was the last PM that this country had who had 'balls' and who put the interests of the UK before anything else..Outside the rat race and proud of it0 -

Oooh This should be good.0 -
I find him a buffoon and a sideshow amusement, but he represents a type: S Palin, M Bachmann and others.... even Ben Carson...
There is a parallel to be drawn (both in media and electorate response and with the wider political picture) with the likes of N Farage and P Nuttalls in the UK....
But US politics (state and federal) is so, so different from UK politics. Not only the (usual) absence of anything very middle or left...
The very system of each party having a single candidate who then chooses a running mate skews the game a little.
I have a very, very dim view of H Clinton, but I cannot see much past her presidency. The main gig among democrats is who gets to be VP. Benghazi seems a busted flush and I'm not sure her email irregularities will hurt her enough. I think she is a liar and thoroughly corrupt, not least through her husband and some of his pardons and dodgy funding. Then there was Camp Eagle in Bosnia where she.... didn't run for cover because of snipers.
But the GOP run is providing giggles as it often does. Most of the candidates take a creationist view. Last time out, the GOP candidate was a Mormon who'd spent a year or two knocking on doors to convert the willing. That just wouldn't happen in some places....
But back to Trump: He is a buffoon who made a lot of money by starting with a lot of money. He is (as are so many) a bellicose draft-dodger. He comes across as racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, petty, thin-skinned, truculent, bullying and hugely (YUUUGELY) lacking in self-awareness. Crass. That may be him in a word.
These pre-convention months are somehow little more than reality TV with a bigger prize.... And the real goonballs will not win the real prize.
My worry is that HC will win and the only good thing about her is that she is none of the others.

^^ Pretty much says it all. Particularly the HC bit.0

I have no idea how she managed to have a net worth of $10m on a PM's salary if she always put the country first.

I hate the woman IMHO she destroyed this country and it is due to her and her vicious policies that this country is in the sh1t it is today, followed by tory blair who compounded it.Tail end Charlie

If Trump is the business genius that one or two of the contributors here take him for, we must assume that the plan to track down and deport an estimated thirteen million illegal immigrants has been very carefully thought out and thoroughly costed . . .Specialized Roubaix Elite 2015

...and didn't he pi$$ a hell of a lot of people off in the process?
Turnberry is currently a mess. I pass it regularly. Oh and the prices have gone through the roof. My mate wanted a round. He got a 6.30 am tee off (in summer) for a mere £165 for one round. Suffice to say, he didn't bother.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

What seems very odd is that he is persisting with his campaign...
He seems addicted to the sound of his own voice. Just listening to a few performances by him in the various (slightly overcrowded) GOP debates or on Fox and various other friendly media outlets, he seems simply unable to contain the inner three-year-old.
I have little regard for John McCain as a politician, but he was a hero. Trump's extraordinary "He wasn't a hero" put-down, with the rider of preferring the guys who don't get captured, was as ugly and cowardly as his later half-retraction. That this came from a draft-dodger is enough to have finished most contenders.
His xenophobic bile against many races, faiths and nationalities is extraordinary. Much of it wouldn't be allowed to pass in the pub, let alone on national TV.
The nasty, misogynistic slights and taunts at Megyn Kelly, Carly Fiorina (herself batshit crazy, but that doesn't make it OK) and others are dreadful.
Every week the wheels stay on his presidential wagon, I am amazed. How is it that he keeps failing at the Bush Tucker Trial and yet never gets voted off? Sorry, I've got a bit mixed up here.

It used t be about £65 some 3 years ago. Turnberry is only really busy for 5 months a year. There's hardly a soul on it for he rest of the year and you would think they would maximise the off season (when the weather is conducive).
There's courses here that are excellent and you will pay IRO of £12 - £25 for a round as a non-member in mid season. It's not the elitist eye wateringly expensive game that it is in England. Loch Lomond is far cheaper than Turnberry.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Look at the list of Open courses.

That the one that destroyed a site of special scientific interest? There was a programme about that - did show up what a truly nasty person Trump is. Certainly someone who really ought to be unelectable both by logic and, somehow, by law. That he isn't is worrying.Faster than a tent.......0 -
