When Plante asked why that hadn't happened before, Trump took the bait.
"Because you didn't have Trump as your president," he said. "It was a big difference, there was a big, big difference if you look at the military now

I think I've asked this before but has he actually managed to get a single piece of his promised policy approved yet? A Republican president with a Republican senate and house should be able to get an easy ride but all we ever see is Tweets and sound bites. It feels like the US is just being governed around the president while he rants and showboats. The Republicans must be kicking themselves for allowing themselves to nominate him, with a real politician as president they could have been getting all sorts of (relatively) moderate right wing policy approved.0
-
Plenty of executive orders but no policy approved to date which is why he's now turned to decertifying policies to force senators' hands or playing the promise of one policy off against another - give him the wall and he'll let DACA continue. Even tax reform, which should be a dead cert as it favours the wealthy, is unravelling.
He's certainly hasn't proved to be the great deal maker he claimed to be.
Roll on the mid-terms and let's see where the majority will lay.0 -
Anyone see Dispatches last night on Channel 4?
Worth a watch if you need any further proof of this man's skullduggery, dishonesty, sociopathy and ineptitudeWilier Izoard XP0 -
At the end of his term if he gets there he will be the most unpopular and isolated president ever. The number of ridiculous statements he has made to date makes any interview with him cringe worthy as he attempts to either lie or bulldozer over his actions. He does not even seem to understand that in public office people take record of your statements. This is a level o scrutiny he has never experienced whereas prior he was able to pay his way out of trouble or obfuscate the financially weaker party.0

Don't bank on that. It could well be his supporters see him as hard done by and held back by the government around him. In fact, this is what he is painting the picture of. The only way his supporters might see things differently is if he is removed from office, then the bulk will likely see that as unfair and a complete injustice.
For people who don't support him, his legacy will be like you say, with any removal from office adding to that.
For future generations who won't remember all these actions for real, that's where he will be remembered for all the kinds of things you say, once there are no supporters in the equation, he will be seen for what he is, what he's said, and what he's done.0 -

why won't the future offspring of his supporters continue to eulogise him?

The story behind the 'he knew what he signed up for' is far far bigger than Trump's lack of a moral compass. US operating in shady conditions, no back up, improper equipment, French not permitted to fire, soldiers (dead and alive) picked up by 'contractor' and the soldier the subject of the furore allegedly left behind on the battlefield, alive, because no head count carried out.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Apparently the soldiers were advised there was no threat. Does indeed look like a complete fudge up.
Just as with Trump claiming the win in Raqqa was all down to him so, as Commander in Chief, he has to take ownership of this. Will he? not a chance.0 -

And that's just for a start. The more 'out there' stories involve this small US force assisting a larger Russian occupying force at the behest of Putin. Not sure I buy that, much too difficult to keep secret. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

He's picked up on our crime stats increase too. Apparently the 13% is down to islamic terror.
Which, is evidence for one of two things:
1. Our crime rates were pretty low, so the 13% increase due to the recent attacks still leaves us with virtually no crime; or
2. Islam is now responsible for increasing road traffic offences, close passes on cyclists, assaults in pubs on Friday nights, sexual assaults in the workplace and thefts of chicken from Lidl.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

not a fan of Twitter - but yes some interesting conspiracy theories out there. Most would be more of a problem for Obama than Trump (unless all started in last 9 months)0 -

Jeez. So desperate is Trump in defending his version of events and not admit he subsequently lied re; the phonecall he's now dragged Eric and his wife (or is it full time carer?) Lara into the story to perpetuate his lies.
After sending out John Kelly to peddle hypocrisy, falsehoods and lies amid genuine sentiment yesterday, Eric and Lara were wheeled out on Fox this morning. Lara, who doesn't work for the administration and doesn't have security clearance, apparently saw a transcript of what Kelly called 'a sacred conversation'.
The problem for Lara is, on top of alleging committing a security breach, the Huckster later admitted there was no transcript of the call and as we already know Trump had already lied about there being a form of indefatiguable proof of what he said.
Trump is running out of family members to wheel out to peddle his lies and defend him on this but we know he won't give up. Any bets on who he'll send out next? Melania, real or body double? Ivanka? Don Jr? Bannon as an outside bet?0 -
We want Ivana. We want Ivana. Actually, on reflection, I'll pass on that.0

Trump on allegedly forgetting soldiers name in that call."Just so you understand, they put a chart in front of me: Says La David Johnson. So, I call right from the beginning, there's no hesitation."
As well as having the document in front of me I have one of the great memories of all time. The meeting with Republican Senators yesterday, outside of Flake and Corker, was a love fest with standing ovations and great ideas for USA!
I have one of the great memories of all time, but just to be sure they put a board in front of me in case i forgot his name during a 2 min phone call
A love fest with senators..Standing O's... China, North Korea? All lies and jest..still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....0 -
