My running to riding ratio seems to be 1 to 10, ie a 50km bike ride is similar in effort and after effects as a 5km run. The ride takes a lot longer though!0

I was comparing runners to riders. Ironman is about 4:1 ratio.0 -

No idea - never been there ...0 -

Was tongue in cheek. You will love Box - it looks impressive but is a gradual incline with rod surface to die for0 -

Dunno if I'm looking forward to Leith and Boxhill or not ... I've checked out the strava segments for riders that I ride with and it doesn't look too bad - but you never know if they were just cruising up or blowing out their arse ...
I've not done enough hills this year - commute isn't flat, but I've been missing out the longer drags that I was able to do previous years (time pressure) - I'll get up Leith and Boxhill - just probably not as quickly as I would like ...0 -
I'm feeling confident I will complete the ride. I did 90 miles on Sunday which followed a 3 mile run on the Saturday.0

There is a great irony about somebody riding for the samaritans but worried about not raising enough money. Ring the samaritans for support0

Obviously you should get to Whitedown from Leith, and to Leith from Newlands. Is the gorilla tired yet?0 -

I would say that was about right
Going for a good time in a 100mile flat-ish cycle is easier than going for a good time in a half marathon (so 100 v 13) IME.
I am more a cyclist though and only ever trained properly for one half marathon, then buggered up my ankle so did not reap the rewards.
They would have only been time rewards though I am guessing.
It would still have been hell!0 -
The weather is going to be horrendous on Sunday, I expect the route will be shortened again.0

yup - looking good so far - don't want it too hot or windy ... but forecasts do change ..0 -
Hi - a quick question about Leith Hill, as I've seen this seems to be the toughest climb on the route. I don't know this climb, but would be interested to hear from anyone with experience about how it compares to Ditchling Beacon? I know I can get up Ditchling Beacon after a long ride. Thx.0

Leith:

Ditchling
https://www.strava.com/segments/770191?hl=en-GB
Both look to climb just about 440 foot - Leith is 1.2miles over Ditchling's 0.9 miles - so it's a shallower gradient.
Leith does look to be a steady climb rather than Ditchlings up and level off, up and level off routine - I suggest that Leith is going to be a hard hill, but if you can do Ditchling then Leith will be fine - so long as you don't go balls out!0 -
My view/memory on Leith v Ditchling is that Ditchling is much harder.
Have done both at least 3 times.
Surprised to hear Leith hill is longer that Ditchling.
Let us know how you found it Monday TC.
Have a good ride everyone
Don't ride too close to milemuncher as he is bringing his own personal storm cloud by the sounds of it0 -
Ditchling is quite a lot harder than Leith IMO, I've ridden both a couple of times this year.
Leith you seem to be able to settle into a tempo much easier.
And yes, Ditchling certainly seems longer, I think the first 0.3m on that segment are flattish so you don't really count it as part of the climb.Bianchi C2C - Ritte Bosberg - Cervelo R3

I hear all this talk of Box and Leith being the climbs from hell but this is one of my local climbs.

I know I can get up it just not as fast as the Pro riders.0 -
I've only now realised that I'll be leaving my house at 3:45am, may get a kebab from one of the still busy outlets for breakfast!0
