Not sure who as the camera work is appalling.
Camera work has to be poor, so Hugh Porter can keep up and *look* like he knows what he is talking about
Of course having ridden the Tour of Britain, some of the tour de France, competed in both the world championship time trial and world championship road race, and won 4 track world championships in the IP Hugh Porter clearly knows much much less about cycling than us guys who talk about cycling on internet fora.
Porter's time has kinda been and gone. His knowledge of who's who and what's what in today's bike racing just isnt great. He gets easily muddled. I wont too quickly forget him introducing Matt Bottrill at 2014 Nats TT Champs as the winner of multiple Olympic medals, rainbow jerseys, the 1st British winner of the Tour, and (with a final Hugh flourish) 'cycling's own Knight of the Realm'
The final straw for the BBC and his commentating gig was when he called the winner wrong during live commentary of one of the Womens Track Sprint events (when it was clearly as daylight that it was a wrong call). But he'd been in last chance saloon with the Beeb for a while0 -
At the Worlds in Varese, Porter finished third, prompting rival Dirk Baert to claim: "Porter is finished, he is an old man".
This was in 1971!
Porter is now 97 years old
Not really and he's a very nice bloke0 -
