Tour of Britain Stage 5 Prudhoe to Hartside Fell **SPOILERS*

Perfectly judged by Poels.
Biggles is easy to spot from an aerial shot Frenchie, he's got a massive norwegian flag on his back - if you know what that looks like! :shock:0 -
At 200m Biggles looked back and saw Poels coming and went "Oh St!t!, it's second again for me!!)0
-
Will be interested to see the results sheet. Lots of climbers nowhere.
Was hoping little Eddie Dunbar would perform.
Excellent work EBH.
Poels - very strong but just looks and races like a Froome clone.
Oh, one of my men is racing, Fernandez in 9th.
Teuns in 10th.
1st place current Sky, 2nd place former Sky, 3rd place future SkyContador is the Greatest0 -
Biggles close enough to take GC lead by 1 second from Poels.0
-
Ok, EBH in GC lead. Three more stages to go, all sprints by the looks of things. EBH got this wrapped up. MTN just smoking it this year.Contador is the Greatest0

Wow! EBH nearly won!
Oh beeeeehave
Brave ride by EBH
Perfectly judged for the stage win anyway, by Woop Woet0 -
Not sure who as the camera work is appalling.
Camera work has to be poor, so Hugh Porter can keep up and *look* like he knows what he is talking about0 -

If only Mick Bennett would run the ToB inside a velodrome, it would be much easier for Hugh0 -

The one where he rode in front of the bunch like Kate Winslet in Titanic, to try to slow them down during the 2012 Tour?
Tres amusant Poor EBH0 -
James Lowsley Williams (GBr) NFTO
Cavendish throwing his weight about to get him DQ'd?
Amazing how far back people are in this stage which was basically a short flat ride until a short easy hill. Time gaps are about the same as a multi mountain GT stage.
Doull 11th, very impressive.
Oh and 5th was the man I've just discovered: Guldhammer. Here's hoping tomorrow's stage can actually be a bit of a hilly classic and he can knock the PT teams about.
Wiggins rolling in massively down ensuring Team Wiggins cement their 3rd from bottom of the team classification position.
Little Dunbar was 24th but over a minute back.Contador is the Greatest0 -

You've just discovered Guldhammer? He's a strange one. Hyped as a huge talent, but couldn't cope with being away from home, so bailed out for a while and how has come back.

Stage six is by far the toughest of this year’s race. While not the longest, 192 kilometres over the up-down-up-down terrain of the Peak District is going to split the peloton into several groups. This region always tends to make or break the race.
There are three categorised climbs – Millstone Edge (KM83.7), Beeley Moor (KM120.9) and Cromford Hill (KM137), but the organisers could have added plenty more if they had wished. One domestic pro told Cycling Weekly today: “If I get through tomorrow OK, that’s one to tell the grandchildren.”
I shall be expecting much.Contador is the Greatest0 -
Nice to see Doull showing what he can do on a bigger stage
4th, 6th, 6th, 4th in first 4 stages
11th today
Points jersey, best Brit since stage 2. Now 5th on GC
Great form ahead of the Worlds
But alas...poor Tao GH...I think he's jinxed in the ToB...0 -

Trouble with tomorrow's stage is it is relatively easy towards the end as it finishes in Nottingham a good 20 miles from the Peak - if they'd finished in Matlock or even Derby it would have made more sense from a sporting perspective. Still the terrain is up and down even if the categorised climbs listed above are nothing special and certainly nothing like the toughest in the area there is hope that accumulated fatigue might split things.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0

I like Poels but really felt for EBH there, it looked like he was going to take the stage by a distance. Haven't got a clue what Tao was doing. I don't see him race much, does he have these lapses in concentration normally or just at the ToB? Managed to mess things up for his mate Alex in the process! Decent racing all the way up the climb.
As a side note, the profile shots of House on the ITV highlights made him look like Robbie Rotten out of Lazy Town!0 -
Video of Cav shouting at Gorka:

It also turns out the Guldhammer was delayed (and Alex Peters) by whoever managed to not ride on the road:

Would have cost him some time.
It's my second victory at the Tour of Britain. I think [last time] it was 2010, my second victory as a pro.

Someone came up the inside for definite. It's hard to tell what happened but it looked like Tao drifted slightly left and into his path. Just one of those things, unusual to see a crash on a climb but they must have been riding at close to 20mph.0 -

The wind was very strong on the climb, headwind but also crosswind - Kristian House talked a little about it on the ITV highlights this evening0 -

Camera work has to be poor, so Hugh Porter can keep up and *look* like he knows what he is talking about
Of course having ridden the Tour of Britain, some of the tour de France, competed in both the world championship time trial and world championship road race, and won 4 track world championships in the IP Hugh Porter clearly knows much much less about cycling than us guys who talk about cycling on internet fora.0
