I watched Dream Horse last night, on Sky Cinema
It was quite enjoyable: a feelgood film to lighten the gloom, based upon a true story.

It would be definitely be of interest to my fellow Welsh poster above, as it was mainly filmed in Blaenavon, with several shots of the rear of that cycling Mecca, the Tumble.
Also, there was a scene at a certain wedding venue we both attended, which is frequented by The Queen, on her occasional visits to the area.

    Oh and Merthyr co-op.

Ok be honest, how much did Pross pay you to mention Dream Horse?
Rumour has it that Damian Lewis has offered Pross a roll in the Welsh version of his hit show Billions.

It’s going to be called Half a Sixpence. :p

Was going to be my big break, Barbara Broccoli would have been on the phone when she saw my inspired interpretation of Man Carrying Two Pints and begged me to take over as Bond. But no, Lewis had a fit of jealousy and got me cut.

Watched Cockneys vs Zombies for a bit of light relief.

Alan Ford is on form, hamming it up as the ageing Cockney gangster and Honor Blackman does a good little cameo. The 'Richard Briers trying to outrun a zombie on his zimmer' scene was a good laugh.

Yes I saw that a few days ago. Truly awful but one of those films that's better for it. No pretence to be anything but a good laugh which it was and was 90mins or so of escapist nonsense. I've abandoned "better" films before but this kept me to the end

So bad it's good - yep. Sometimes stuff like that is good for a bit of fun if you spend a lot your week exercising the old grey matter. I will draw the line at stuff like 'Sharknado' though

The Courier (2021) on Amazon Prime. The spy one as there's a few with that title.
Very pertinent, very scary how we've been closer than this sh!t before, and what some went through to keep things as they were.

I am currently watching Kursk: The Last Mission on Netflix.

Well worth watching as an exposé of the Russian political machine at work (against serving personnel and more specifically, their families) and the “quality “ of their “ state of the art” hardware.

Several stark comparisons in the language used to the current crisis.

Bodyline. A story about feral public schoolboys attempting to play sport. That Douglas Jardine was built for hand-to-hand trench warfare. Pity about his clubfoot though.

I thought I'd do a double header to bookend my single days, both on Amazon Prime.
CBGB and 24 Hour Party People. Turns out that 24 Hour Party People actually filled in some of the gaps but while I thought it would be the most entertaining of the two I was wrong. CBGB is a far better watch.
I didn't expect either to be 100% accurate but worth a watch if you enjoy the related music. Less so 24 Hour Party People.

The Adam Project on Netflix. It is silly with plot holes bigger than a corroded colander and overdone with the Ryan Reynolds schtick but what makes it worse is that I enjoyed it.
    The shame. 🤪

I'm a third of the way through, please, no spoilers as to how it might end. 😃

Once upon a time in Hollywood All4
Only two thirds watched (about 3 hours long). So far excellent with an acting masterclass by Leonard DiCaprio. Brad Pitt is doing OK too (Oscar I think). Will finish watching tonight with high hopes.

I recently watched it and thought it was excellent. The best thing Tarantino has done in ages.

Brad really captured the spirit of Brad Pitt in this one.

I can't say I like many Mr Pitt films.

    "After Hours" by Martin Scorsese

I remember watching it about 25 years ago without knowing the title but it always stuck in my mind. I asked for help identifying it by describing it on a forum and someone came up trumps and named it.

"After Hours" by Martin Scorsese is almost like a film of my childhood, although if you talk to my mother she will tell you she watched it when my grandmother came home from work and she was about 8 years old. Amazing.

Fight Club pooped up on my streaming service and short of decision making energy I watched it again. Interesting to see how it has aged.

Much of this is a fair point - https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/movies/a29463962/fight-club-bad-20th-anniversary-analysis-essay/ - but I disagree with some of it. I think the rise of MMA type sport, both in terms of participants and viewership can be traced back to that film in some ways. There is also always an undercurrent of " screw the man" from any time period be it punk rock, angsty movies or even crypto-bros...

Watched Enemy At The Gates agains last night, it felt quite pertinent considering current events. There was one particular line from the guy who plays Hellboy / Clay in SoA along the lines of using Ukranians as cannon fodder as that is all they are good for!
