Once again a nothing stage takes out a clutch of riders. Big names too. Remains to be seen if Sagan can ride on with road rash all over his bum. A novel type of saddle sore."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0

on the plus side, the podium girls in La Vuelta proving to be simmering hot brunettes with an easy and comfortable beauty.
Def one are where La Vuelta beats the other tours0 -
Why are the motorbikes particularly daft this year?0
-
The road surface on the climb looks like it has been stolen from the UK. Looks like horrible surface dressing. That's me done for now, don't think I can manage another coffee and better find the wife before she bankrupts us!

Oh ny Dan Matin has to pull out!!!! What a disaster. TJ pulls out as well.
Who caused the crash?
Sagan would have probably taken the win there. That motoman needs to be ejected. They are causing too many crahses and they need to under stand there will be consequences to their actions.Contador is the Greatest0 -

It went really narrow with a 90 degree left hander over tram lines with high kerbs on both sides. Recipe for disaster"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

I suspect the moto in blue with the brake light on may have caused it.
didn't see it - just catching up on twitter“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

Hmmmm. Not sure punishing a dodgy moto rider by putting him among less experienced/able riders is logical.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
The shimano service stands by the side of the road..."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Any word on Sagan?0

why is there so little interest in this race on the board? surely you're not all fair weather pundits only interested in the tour
Out riding in the rain :-) Just watched the hightlights on ITV. Seemed a brutal little stage for all the wrong reasons0 -
I went up the climb and down the descent this week - surface on the 2nd half of the climb is shocking, the descent was resurfaced in the winter and is perfect tarmac but it's very twisty and technical.
Can't understand why they didn't resurface the 2nd half of the climb in the winter too, it's only a mile or so.
Watched from the 1st 3rd of the climb today - was great. But I knew something bad must have happened given there was groups of riders all over the road and Gerrans went past with blood all over his face0 -

Who caused the crash? According to a Lotto team mate Kris Boeckmans was taking a drink when he hit an enourmous and deep pothole and went down very heavily with his bike flying through the air. Boeckmans was unconsicous and stopped breathing for a while but ITV was reporting he was in hospital and stable. Dreadful crash.
Peter Sagan's roadrash is god-awful - that's not just a scrape. According to another rider it was the neutral service moto0 -
-
Kris Boeckmans being kept in an induced coma.
He also had 3 broken ribs and bleeding into the lung.
Not sure if that means a puncture or not.
Simon Gerrans woeful, crash crazy season continues.
Head injuries in the same crash, but he continues in the race."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
Oh my that doesnt sound good; I wish him all the best.

I hope that what happened today is finally enough for starting doing things differently!!
Check this out:
@Laura_Meseguer
Peter Sagan penalized with 200 CHF for a "behaviour that threatens cycling image" + 200 CHF for "offences and threats"
You guys think this is fair?

Really hope he pulls through. Always worrying when someone is so seriously injured.0 -
What the hell happened today?
Boeckmans in a coma?
Sagan knocked off and fined for being angry?
I'm stuck at my in laws so can't watch sh!t apart from f@cking murder mysteries.
Even the winner has broken bones.0 -

The driver has been excluded from the race.

Saw another photo earlier on Twitter with Sagan vertical and upside down in the air, clear of the ground - photo above must be the landing.
Froome interviewed on ITV in UK said he heard it happen just to the left of him and was very critical.0 -
Hope Boeckmans recovers well.
I can't remember previous years where so many riders were taken out by support/neutral service/team cars. It's getting ridiculous. What has changed? Sagan has every right to kick off.
As for Vino'sGhost's observation about lack of interest on the board about the stage (and probably the whole Vuelta so far). Bank holiday weekend means lots are away, end of school hols the last week/next week means lots on holiday. Wait until kids are back at school and parents are back working - there'll be so much interest in the race for the last week/work avoidance!0 -
From what I've heard, things aren't good for Boeckemans. Please say this isn't a repeat of the 2011 Giro.0
