**SPOILER ALERT - Box contents listed**

OK, so did anyone else order the Leaders Jersey £20 box?

I did, on a whim. Thought I'd give it a go for £20.

So the website promised - "One constant is a bad ass t-shirt designed by a local artist and screen printed by us. By hand. There will also be stuff to eat, stuff to fix your bike and stuff to wear while riding"

The site also said "We can guarantee that this box will contain a hand printed t-shirt. But we can always guarantee that. The rest of the box will contain £50+ rrp of biking products. We will include some big names, as well as emerging brands and start-ups"

Well, the box arrived so I thought I would post up what was included and my thoughts, in case anyone else was interested in the idea.

    Box contents:
    1. a T Shirt - Yellow cotton with the Leaders Jersey logo in black, I wouldn't really describe it as bad ass, but maybe I'm not best placed to judge that
    2. An unbranded multi tool - Quite a few tools including chain breaker, but VERY heavy.
    3. OTE flap jack, bottle, gel and drink powder and 25% off voucher
    4. Pouch of Old Spike Roaster coffee

    And that's it.

Tbh, I can't see £20 of value in the contents, let alone the promised £50rrp. The contents seem more typical of a goody bag at the end of a sportive or marathon. And to be fair, I've had better goody bags from 10k races with £5 entry fees

Maybe it will get better in time if the customer numbers pick up and they have more buying power for the contents, but as a first box it's pretty poor. Cleverly, they offered the November box for £15 before the 1st box hand been delivered - so I took a chance on that too. Oh well
2020 Reilly Spectre - raw titanium
2020 Merida Reacto Disc Ltd - black on black
    2015 CAAD8 105 - very green - stripped to turbo bike
    2018 Planet X Exocet 2 - grey

    The departed:

    2017 Cervelo R3 DI2 - sold
    Boardman CX Team - sold
    Cannondale Synapse - broken
    Cube Streamer - stolen
    Boardman Road Comp - stolen
  • I ordered one too but have not yet seen the contents. I was quietly hopeful that it contained something good. I guess I'm going to be disappointed!

And it turns out the coffee is coffee beans, so totally useless to me and most other people. So I guess out of the box for £20, I'll try the flapjack. And I sold the multi tool for £3. So that's a £17 flap jack. Better be nice

  • Urgh, and mines been delivered to the post office as no one was in, so I now have to go out of my way to get it (OK, it's only about 1 mile, but that's not the point).
What a let down (assuming mine is the same as yours - it may be pot luck!)

Fuck me dude you're just the fella I've been looking for I have this amazing once in a lifetime offer of a pouch with at least 5 "magic" beans and if you buy now you can have two for the price of two.
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.

You think I'm a mug? There are people on Twitter celebrating the "great" contents of the box and looking forward to the next one, WTF. See, there's your customer base. People you can rip off without them knowing it

Maybe they were lucky and got 2 flapjacks. Was Captain Kirk as disappointed as you?
  • Yes, yes I was!
Coffee I can't use, a t-shirt I haven't tried on yet, a multi-tool that will probably get recycled into a christmas present for a less enthusiastic cyclist, a money off voucher or 2 that are already in the recycle bin, drink powder, gel.
The flapjack was actually quite nice. Only 1 though.

I resisted the temptation to go for the next box at a discount. IC. - let us know if it is any better!
