Urge to spend a little - any ideas?

I have this urge to spend money on something to make my commute and riding better. The issue is it will have to be less than £50. Any ideas?
I have lights, secondary lights, locks and pumps. There are the maximum number of bottle cages for my bike frame (2) and i have a rack with panniers and rack bags.
Everything really interesting is expensive (Garmin trek 510, 810, 1010, touring, touring plus, etc.) and all the little bits under £50 I think I have.
Seriously what is there left to buy to make riding and specifically commuting better at up to £50.
This could also be called the "Xmas is coming and I do not know what to buy the cyclist who has everything thread"! Except I know I don't have everything just enough to have a decent commute.

Comfort?
Tyres, saddle, bar tape, mitts, gloves, overshoes, skull cap........?The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
I want to throw money at the problem... but I can't identify the problem to throw money at...
Is it an oxymoron or just a chiasmus?left the forum March 20230 -
Go to the pub on the way home and spend it on beer. It'll make that commute better, but the following morning may hurt.0

I'd go with this. There are jerseys on sale for £50
However is a good chance it will become a lot more expensive than £50 after your first purchase :twisted:0 -

I'd go with - SALE10
An extra 10% off and free shipping.
And I was wrong about the mitts. £40 -10% goes to £36. (I had £50 in my mind). Worth it now?The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

A couple of years ago I paid 15 quid for a pair of Bontrager leather mitts, which I still use... at the time I thought it was a reasonable price, although not cheap.
That said, the other day I went to Petersham Nurseries with my wife and was charged 9 pounds for 2 x cup of tea and 1 x tiny slice of apple strudel... I found that profoundly steep!left the forum March 20230 -

I guess the idea is that they get cheap deals on *stuff* because *stuff makers* see it as a potentially successful channel to market.
Plus, it gives people with no imagination something to look forward to.0 -
A water resistant baselayer, very niche so I'm sure you don't have one.
I'm sure it'll get used this winter or looking outside, maybe now!
£36 with SALE10 which leaves room for lots of socks.

The green pro-team mitts are only £30 and you can add a merino wool cap for another £20.
My green ones had a small hole in them and they just replaced it with a black (not in sale) with no fuss0 -

They are not even leather... even at 30 quid they're still a rip off... guess you can buy something very similar from Aldi for 2-3 quid.left the forum March 20230 -

He's not going up north. As a virtual Yorkshireman I can't have the West Midlands described as up north!
And FWIW I share his views on what constitutes good value in a cycling mitt. And £9 for two teas and a bit of cake really is taking the p1ss!0 -

Got a pair of Endura for around £20 last year and they started to fall apart . Bought an Altura (special from wiggle £7) but after a month I can see this will not last more then a 6-8 weeks!!! I can't be bothered to send it back so will use it and bin it once it's dead.
Will try Rapha and see how it goes: I like the fit and for £30 (I would have spent the same on Assos/Cast/sportful) I think it's a good deal. I can probably sell it fairly close to the £30 I paid for them if they don't work out and if they do work then I'll enjoy them while they last.
I'm wondering if you wear/use or can recommend any of the Aldi/Lidl stuff: I'm sure you can get lucky with them but the last time I went the selection was pretty horrendous.0 -

Just trying to give good advice, as opposed to any advice... just because something is reduced price, it doesn't mean it is good value. You are giving advie on products you have admitted not even buying yourself (like the all too useful merino underwear)
While some Rapha products might have a point, if they keep you warmer or drier or allow you to ride for longer without getting blisters around your balls (infact I do own some of their stuff myself), these are generic gloves with no USP, other than a Sky logo and a hefty price tag... and you know I am rightleft the forum March 20230 -
he asked for something to spend his money on that would make his commute more comfortable.
a pair of merino boxers would keep his balls nice and toasty thus more comfortable.
