The amount Londoners go on about Box Hill is nuts - I had got the impression it was actually a big hill, but the Strava segment says 176m over 2.4km (the 100 Climbs segment), which isn't really all that... Basically a speedbump for these guys anyway.
The segment also has 260,000 attempts by 42,600 people, does that mean it's wheel to wheel cyclists every weekend?
Such a p*ss take that there's only 7 climbs in Scotland in the 100 climbs list - I rode one called the Suie today and that was a) 171m over 2km, so steeper, and b) much more scenic (and c), not even that big of a climb...
).

Not watching as out with family but what way do they do Ranmore? Up from forming and then over to Box via Westhumble? Wouldn't fancy that as the descent down to Westhumble is on crappy surfaces and steep and twisty. Back down the other side to dorking past the dump is more fun as its a better surface with better sight lines. Can get up to 70 kph easily. You just have to remember that there might be a queue for the dump half way down.
And yes, box hill is no alp but it is a silky smooth h piece of road that is fun to climb. There are always cyclists there but it's never packed. Usually the cafe is busier. There are quite a few people that drive up there and get out their carbon bling I reckon!

Is it not the zeitgeist to state that that is a waste of licence payers hard-earned money, employing two sets of commentators??! :P
no Porter and Smith are commentating on the world feed, they happen to be on Eurosport as well as that moment, its just BBC online for some reason (maybe rights issues) are showing the world feed, not the BBC feed with Brotherton et al.
actually Rochelle Gilmore is asking the more interesting questions from Chris Boardman about race tactics (even though she clearly is not that inexperienced about bike racing),whilst Brotherton is in full MotD archaic learned stat mode.
