Livarot cheese.
Surprised that this hasn't appeared yet. Lovely cheese once you get past the aroma.
Livarot cheese is also called "The Colonel" because of the five strips of raffia that encircle the cheese, similar to the one worn on a French army colonel's uniform.0 -

I hope Cav wins today. I hope Cav wins today.

Apparently UCI rules say he shouldn't be wearing the jersey rather than his own desire not to.
I'm confused as to what the issue is.
Martin finished the stage.
He's the yellow jersey.
Martin DNS.
The moment the flag drops Froome becomes the Virtual leader - he's not the leader until the stage finishes.
There's a lot of fuss about this - wasted energy IMHO. As TWH says above, it's pretty obvious what the position is and I don't feel the Tour is lessened in any way because there's a stage without someone wearing the jersey.0 -

CondéThe last kilometer of the stage also includes a roundabout. Once again, the peloton will be stretched out. A tailwind on the last 600 meters will make for a fast finish. Usually this would mean that strong power sprinters could afford to start their sprint early and still win. However, it’s very important to remember that the final 300 meters are uphill with an average gradient of around 4 % all the way towards the finishing line. You need to time your sprint to perfection if you want to win this stage.
A Sagan win would be welcome. Somehow he's able to operate at such an high level despite his owner frequently discussing his 'value' with the 'fans'. Impressive chap.
He's one of life's jokers. A seemingly genuinely nice guy. It most likely goes right over his head.0 -
It's all good for Froome.
The team can take the day off completely and let those sprinter chappies sherpas do all the heavy lifting."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

Bertie Cont fell off in the neutral zone. Probably felt left out of yesterday's "favourite only" pile up. 8)"Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0

What with the lumpy 'classics' parcours and chaotic racing, I doubt Kittel would have made the final group on any 'sprint' stage so far. It would have been a tough way to win in Paris....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

I would like to see a mountain Sherpa switch to cycling and give it a go.0 -

Then there's Tony Martin and the Zen of collar bone maintenance; out of the race but grateful for the stage win and jersey. Meanwhile we have GC divas spitting bidons and storming busses. Good game....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -
With a win time bonus, Sagan would be ever soooooo close the Maillot Jaune.
What's the record for number of second place finishes in the Tour. He must be closing in.
I expect Rich to come up with an answer to that before the end of the day.0 -

No, I genuinely do want him to win. He's my favourite sprinter by a country mile, I am just struggling to deal with his star waning
I'd settle for a single stage on this Tour given how things have gone so far; if that's on the Champs Elysees then so much the better!0 -

Quintana's physiology is presumably similar to the Nepalese. He may not have risked his life fixing ropes for Valverde as frequently as Sherpas, mind....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -

I know it's not even the right stage but I don't care. Just remembered about this little beauty and it's an annual TdF tradition so thought I'd start early

Good luck to the crims trying to run away from PC Martin and PC Degenkolb.
If their police get issued with kitted out S-Works I'm in the wrong job Certainly beats some fat WPC on a halfrauds mountain bike, that Ive seen around here."The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -

120 odd to go, 4 man break at 2.20- very slow and dull. Same as 99.9% of yesterday I'd expect
Intermediate sprint was fairly uneventful apart from Cav having to dodge TGA's lead out man. Degenkolb taking it seriously, everyone else sprinting but not too muchWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Silly photo shoots aside, Tony Martin really does come across as the nicest guy in the peloton.
Or should that be the super nicest guy? Here's to a speedy recovery. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -

Just past the intermediate sprint
Màte across first
6th Degenkolb 10 pts
7th Sagan 9 pts
8th Griepel 8 pts
9th Cav 7 pts
5 breakaway riders 2'22 in front. Including Teklehamanot even though there's no more KOM points up for grabs.
114km to go"The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -
The TTT over the weekend could be rather interesting for a few teams already...any more down/withdrawals and there is the potential for some GC riders to be pushed to retain their positions ahead of the the hills0
