Only military pilots that don't need to be officers. Although if you want to maintain the aircraft I think you'd need to look at joining the REME but I'm not entirely sure.0 -
How old are you? Getting into the RN or RAF if you're 30+ is basically out of the question. I believe bg13 is leaving the RAF, but I may be wrong.
That's what he claims, but I believe he is actually in prison...
Oh Hai!!!!
I am indeed a full time occupier of a position in the RAF (No way was i going to type 'member' on here) i am due to leave in Sept after 30 years service. I have travelled large parts of the world and cannot remember most of it as i've been suitably refreshed wherever i have gone!!!
Not sure on the criteria for joining at the moment especially what age you need to be but they are actively recruiting regulars and reserves. Like most occupations its a lot smaller and nowhere near as good as when i started but you'll definitely travel and no two days will be the same. And if you like and are good at any sports you will be occasionally allowed time off to take partin that sport.
I think they must have a web site somewhere with all the details you are after, if i could be arrissed i'd get it for you but i'm too busy on here. Ps i'm not in work at the moment surfing the net, no way would i do that, i'd be in real trouble, so i'm not in work, on a works computer........ok?
Haha I already know about arrissed
Mind is made up on career choice, and have family and friends who are currently serving or have been.
Was curious about the skilled side of things whilst serving, but after a visit to lympstone not so long ago had a chance to speak to people who transferred to RM from the unit I am wanting and got the questions answered.
Feels like I have been walking around with my eyes closed.0 -

Yes REME in the amry is an option, sorry I was not clear on this, I think the army is mainly rotary or unmanned aircraft now.
I'd like the chance for fixed wing or rotary aircraft but this is way off in to the future.0
