Why only £15k? Wasn't the gain quite a bit more?
0 -
Because she did live in it before she got married which reduces the amount of the gain that is relevant, plus the annual allowance.

Except that living apart wouldn't change your tax status as a married couple. One or other property becomes the primary residence - either you specify or if neither property is specified then (in this case) it defaults to the property where her husband and children were living as being clearly the primary residence. We don't know if a property was nominated, but I would guess more likely that they didn't nominate. As her husband and children were living at the other property anyway it then wouldn't make a difference where her neighbours had seen her.
It might also be that enough qualifying work has been done to the property to offset the capital gains, leaving the bill at £0. From a calculation I have seen this would only need to be about £12k, which might just about cover a set of UPVC windows. No information on this has been published so we are quite a way from evidence that something is owed.
Just to illustrate how meaningless the neighbours 'statements' are, I haven't seen my immediate neighbour's son since last year even though I know he lives there.

Surely that last bit is evidence that they have killed him?

We still take in parcels for him 🤔

Sounds dodgy, you'd better write about it in a book and report it to the police.

This is a bit like a reverse Kanagaroo court, where a number of alleged non lefties have already decided that Rayner is innocent of any wrong doing, despite being insistent that we don't know all the facts 😉
Is the 'shy leftie' a new thing?

Do point out where I have written she's innocent.
Perhaps you can just say that neighbours saw me write it

Is that someone who gives money to the Labour Party but doesn't like to talk about it?

Am I right to summarise that it is too early to tell and possibly also too late to do anything about it now?

I suspect Labour won't mind this dragging on. It's tedious here though.

I mean, it's just hilarious at this point. There is the suspicion that he won't say because he realises it could be libellous. It's really cringeworthy. He wants to keep the smear going by appearing on these shows, but then refuses to say anything substantive. You can tell Beth Rigby is just "WTF?"

Well the very basis of English law is that she is innocent until proven guilty. The last I checked that required a jury to find her guilty not the media and a few neighbours. You seemed to understand this a few months ago.

I know that. But is this a court of law?

Not tedious enough for you to post. Although I get it that the Brexit thread is now so tedious that this is probably light relief 😉

You seem to ramping up your subtle trolling attempts. Unfortunately it's still a bit too obvious 🙂

Given how long ago this all happened, it's definitely too late to do anything about it!

So hopes another shy leftie?

I love the defence when Liz Truss is mentioned "he was there for much longer".
I mean yes, but famously so was a lettuce.

Thanks for the succinct explanation.

If the Tories were serious about winning an election they should go fund a party called the "Housing party" which is a single issue party all about building homes and the infrastructure for homes - would obliterate half of the labour vote.

Not sure about that, they still have to appease nimby boomers.

I find the notion that all NIMBYs are Boomers quite funny.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
I once believed that not all boomers are nimby and not all nimbys are boomers, and nimbys and boomers are not all tories. But I have learnt a lot from this forum 🤔
But yeah it is a funny notion. 😁

I guess Unison will be plugging in their shredder 😊

Why don't they say who is suggesting the police could ask them for that information? It feels like a completely worthless article unless someone actually involved in the investigation has said it.

Imagine joining the police and that's what they have you do.

Phrases like "could be" and "is understood" are doing a lot of heavy lifting in that article

Welsh Labour, under their new leader, seem to be taking a lead from Westminster in flip flopping to public opinion and are starting to backtrack on the 20mph blanket limit little more than 6 months after introducing it. One thing I quite admired about the previous leadership was they would go ahead with policies they felt were important even when there there was vocal opposition. I didn't always agree with the things they forced through but they had principles they would stick with. It doesn't bode well that under Gething they are already buckling at a bit of negative feedback. In this instance the policy hasn't even had time to see what the impacts are let alone give the public a chance to get used to things and adapt. I really hate this governing by opinion polls / petitions. Why can't Parties set out their policies then have the balls to stick with them using the fact they got elected as their mandate?
