This is a very well-designed grand tour, isn't it? Opportunities for riders to shake it up in almost every stage
Yes, but there appear to be few flat stages so there isn't much of a sprint contest; however, if you judge a GT by the random distribution of PTP picks, I think this one would score highly.
70 kms before a break could be established.
Patrick Gretsch (AG2R-La Mondiale), Davide Appollonio (Androni-Giocattoli), Enrico Barbin (Bariani-CSF), Kenny Elissonde (FDJ) Nick Van der Lijke (LottoNL-Jumbo) now have 2'-12".

I'm surprised this is officially classed as a medium mountain stage, especially at the Giro. Sure there's a few lumps at the end but they are small hills for Italy (obviously it would be the Queen stage on the ToB!). Can't imagine the first 125km being very interesting but the race has been full of surprises.

I think it's for the benefit of the points competition which they have tried to make more of a sprinters competition by offering different points according to the stage classification. So it's the finish that makes it medium mountains.

Amazing for the fact that there is one glaring omission.
Wouldn't happen if FF did PTP. :P

Who says he needs to attack to get pink...
No idea, I'm reading a book about the moral architecture of suffering.
EDIT - I hear that the UCI commissaires are working on who to stitch up like a kipper today.
The organisers are of course hoping it isn't Aru.
Wet roads, breakaway shots.
Peloton being led by OPQS.
It's raining. Betancur has crashed again. Another fountain is turned pink. There are 60km to go. Not worth watching just yet.
Tell me about it, was about to post the same.
Unless it's the most subtle of haircuts, I would say no:
Should also keep the coloured jeans/chinos people happy.
One of those sentences may not be accurate.
Nice to see the time machine worked and he was able to transport his co-host in from 1997.
