Enemies closer, innit. Remarkable to need to replace a minister for something so quickly when it's apparently 'done'.rick_chasey said:

I guess she was the only cabinet minister quite so stupid to take it on.
I hope she goes on one of her cheese rants with the French 😬0 -

And she was stupid enough to put it out on Twitter... well, I hope she wasn't looking for compliments... or hoping that people would forget the things she said supporting Remain...

My immediate thought too when I read about it. The definition of a hospital pass.rick_chasey said:

Not quite sure, of all the things Liz Truss has said (and she's said some remarkably stupid things), that she's taking heat from quite a few remainer types for her previous utterances of being very pro EU membership.
Surely they want someone with that viewpoint in the seat?0 -

Who knows what her real viewpoint is? Doesn't she just go with whatever she thinks is most advantageous to her?0 -
Recent profile on r4 definitely left me thinking she goes with whatever seems best for Liz Truss.0

But she has got some great one-liners.

I wouldn't be surprised if she resigns over covid lockdowns.bm5 said:Recent profile on r4 definitely left me thinking she goes with whatever seems best for Liz Truss.

That is UKCA I've been boringly, banging on about on here for a while. It is an absolute and utter nonsense.rick_chasey said:
It's so ridiculously anti-business and just adds on even more costs which will inevitably be passed on to the consumer.0 -
But is entirely consistent with Brexit. Why would we want to be part of this body with no say in how it is run when we are leaving everything else?skyblueamateur said:

@tailwindhome I've been trying to listen to the Red Box Podcast you recommended the other week.
Fair play if you have the stamina to listen to it. Requires a lot of skipping to get to the content - seems to be an awful lot of trailing what is going to be said.0 -
Simply marvellous. 7€ and a visa to go to France from 2022.

I have a French cycling trip planned for May. Assuming it goes ahead, it looks like we will beat the start date for that as it says "late 2022".briantrumpet said:Simply marvellous. 7€ and a visa to go to France from 2022.

The format is usually first half commentators from the Times chatting a story, second half an 'item'rick_chasey said:@tailwindhome I've been trying to listen to the Red Box Podcast you recommended the other week.

You can ignore the first half.
I'd don't listen every day, only really if the item takes my fancy. They do a PMQ were they stop the 'tape' and comment in real time.
As with all recommendations ymmv and it costs nothing

I would also recommend the Jack Blanchard Westminster Insider podcast.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0

No I appreciate the recommendations. I am a little ADHD with my news as I am usually looking for novel insights, not really accounts of it as I follow it closely.
What's the Blanchard podcast good for?0 -
Retrospective look back at a topic- not necessarily time specific so you can go back through the back catalogue
Did an interview with Owen Paterson a year on from his wife's suicide, which came out before the standards debacle, but was interesting to revisit for a human perspective behind the story that exploded.

That would be an interesting dynamic: the DUP consigning the the rest of the UK to a toxic relationship with the EU for the purpose of the Stormont elections.

I think a clash of theory meeting reality is more likely.briantrumpet said:That would be an interesting dynamic: the DUP consigning the the rest of the UK to a toxic relationship with the EU for the purpose of the Stormont elections.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
