Euro swap clearing still hasn't moved. All the various parties have asked the EU to extend the deadline. The EU has done a lot of huffing and puffing about how there will be no extension.darkhairedlord said:

Found that out recently when a very good member of my team moved back to Spain. She was happy to carry on working for us remotely, I was very happy for her to do that but when we looked into the red tape it became obvious the cost couldn't be justified. We'd managed it previously with someone working out of an EU country, not sure what has changed in the last 2 years to mean it has become so difficult now!surrey_commuter said:

There is some EU rule designed to make it easier to move staff around. The employer needs to meet all the min wage rules of the employee's country, but a lot of the social security stuff remains in place in the employer's country. It was a good idea to make it easy for staff to move, but ended up being exploited.Pross said:

Are supermarket shortages a regional issue at the moment? In the People's Republic of North Yorkshire and some other northern outposts of Boris's fiefdom that I visited on hols recently, there aren't any meaningful issues on this front and haven't been for some weeks. We're quite picky about our food choices, so we're not just buying any old sort of bread, for example. It feels quite regional. In Bristol it wasn't really noticeable last summer (except for the brief flour/bread etc shortages right at the start) but now there are definite gaps in the shelves.wallace_and_gromit said:

I think it's also dependent on what shops too.
Local co-op seems to have given up on getting any freezer goods in stock. Quite often seem short of fresh fruit/veg too.
Getting back from a few days away in Suffolk, lots of restaurants claiming to be fully booked, but leaving half their tables empty. I'm assuming it's due to staff shortages.0 -

The local Morrissons has had trouble for ages. Really obvious gaps in staple products but particularly in fruit and veg which have been missing for a while.
Waitrose - has been hiding it better but definite gaps of 'specialist' produce. (raver cuisine is very Italian focussed but also the more obscure asian ingredients have been missing). As of this week though, they've given up.
Co-op - Freezer Aisles seem particularly affected, other gaps too.
No cream for cream teas because the famers can't get milk to the diary.We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Still been able to buy what we need at our local Waitrose. I did wonder at one point last week when I saw their frozen veg cabinet empty then one of the staff explained it was because they were installing new freezer units and were having to move stuff around, rather than an actual shortage of goods."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered."
