Great race. Crafty ride by Paolini. Thomas super strong. EQS screw up their tactics royally again. Glad that Debusschere didn't feature seeing how he did nothing even after Roelandts was caught.

AtC if you could stay on and translate Terpstra this time I'd appreciate it... ;)

Chuffed to bits for Paolini. My only disappointment is that he's not wearing his sheep snood.

    Thank goodness for that.

He grew it after the Giro win. He shaved it and won again. Surprised?!

His sheep snood is not a beard Frenchie. It was a neckwarmer he wore last year with sheep on it.

Paolini: 'I played my cards right.' You can say that again, maestro

    @velocast
Now, only thing left to consider is whether Pat Lefevere will blame Luca Paolini or Geraint Thomas?

Would like a photo of when Kristoff and Paolini meet.

Oss did well to keep clear of the peloton.

Terpstra clearly had the legs to chase Paolini. Problem is that, separately, both Terpstra and Vandenbergh think they are the leader while Terpstra clearly believes Vandenbergh is his domestique.

Disaster. Peeters needs to be dropped from the car and they need to actually designate a leader in Boonen's absence. Right now, it's 'ride for yourselves lads'.

OK I made that up. Still probably pretty accurate.

Not being allowed to vote here removes a lot of my anger at politics. At least they sportingly let me pay their top rate of tax, though.

it also looked like they were trying to frustate G enough, with all that maguffins in the last few kms, to make him take lead to bridge Paolini back for them. which fair enough might be seem a smart idea to use G that way, but surely at some point youve got to realise it isnt working and force the issue yourselves, and not make that choice within the last 1km as its too late by then if the guy you are chasing is 20seconds up the road.

Terpstra sat up to allow Vandenbergh back in that lead group, when it looked like G had dropped him,and G didnt look none too happy with that move, so youd have assumed EQS had thought it useful for both riders to work together.

at least they showed a clip of the finish for the womens race too.

I think you're right. Or they just don't like each other very much. The Vandenbergh-jumping-on-Terpstra's-wheel-during-De-Omloop incident could have something to do with it. Anyway, it's a team management issue

Sadly I've come across Maggie with my work and well... Another good thing about NL is the 30% tax rule for overseas 'knowledge workers' nit that I really mind paying tax, at least it seems to get used for good infrastructure and stuff here.

Was going to pick Paolini for PTP in a "**** it I'm 200 points behind now I'm just going to pick Paolini for every race now" sort of way.
    Glad now I didn't

In Belgium everything over 30k is taxed at 50%. So you think they'd at least let me get a say in how it gets wasted.

A brilliant race. G still far too generous with his efforts, but in the form of his life - here's hoping he has another fortnight left in the tank. Vanmarcke unconvincing. Etixx awful as everyone says. The problem seems to be with VDB, he just makes choices that are either dumb, or treacherous to his team mates.
