I was cycling earlier

I was cycling earlier, on some roads. I had my cycling clothing on and I was warm enough as the clothing is good. There were some cars on the road, some of the drivers did a few daft things but others didn't. I got home and then had something to eat.

Has anyone else had similar experiences or is it just me?

What did you have to eat?? If it was scrambled egg on bagel with beans and sausages and brown sauce, then I can totally say I had a similar experience !!

I cycled this morning but on a cycle path all the way to work on my cyclocross bike...no one did anything to annoy me and the journey passed without incident as it does 9 days out of 10.

There is definitely a trend developing here. I went out for an unremarkable ride yesterday. About an hour and a half, a bit hilly in places but I made it, didn't fall off and went home and had a shower and a cup of coffee. Sometimes I have tea, but yesterday it was coffee. That's just the way I roll some days, get over it.

  • I was overtaken by at least 6 cars and a bus this morning. I also passed a guy on a MTB coming the other way - I didn't wave. I had gloves on and my hands were warm.

There were some buses on my route in (and some going the other way). I had to wait at some traffic lights and filter past some cars. My hands were warm. On the way home tonight I'll have my lights on

I went for a solo ride last Sunday afternoon. It was cold but sunny. Lots of cars passed me but none of the drivers were unpleasant or seemed remarkable in any way. I saw some other riders. Some of them acknowledged me and I did the same. It was a little chilly but I was dressed for it and my hands and feet were warm enough. I didn't get any punctures. I was a little tired when I got home. I grabbed some food. Smoked mackerel, a little cheese, salad and bread. Then I had a shower.

Last night I spent an hour on the turbo trainer. It was boring. No drivers abused me and I wasn't cold but I still didn't enjoy it much. No punctures yet again!
  • I went for a ride on Sunday morning. I was freezing cold when I set out but then by midday I was far too hot. I suppose some cars must have passed me but I can't remember a single one of them. Lots of other riders out on a nice sunny day.

I went out and it was sunny. My hands were warm, my feet were warm. Because it was warm. I waved at some donkeys, they did not wave back, they just nodded.

What is it with some donkeys? They don't wave back when you acknowledge them.

It's only sometimes I have coffee, not all the time, I'm capable of showing some restraint

  • I drove into work this morning and didn't see a single cyclist on the road. Perhaps they have finally got the message that they do not belong on roads.

Come on guys, no proper drivel on this thread please! Let's get it back on track now.

I went cycling this morning. I was riding my bike. The wheels rolled well as they are a round shape which is good at rolling. I had a drink from a bottle which I kept in my bottle cage which holds the bottle when I am not drinking from it. There were plenty of cars around, of which the standard of driving varied because the cars were not being driven by the same person. I ate something before I went out and in a while I will have my lunch.
  • But what will you have for your lunch? EPO presumably.
  • Well, to cut a long story short I cycled to work this morning with only one minor Ford Fiesta issue, but for a change I put my bike in the new bike storage area which has two keypad entry doors for security. The room looks like it was modeled on Guantanamo Bay.
  • I rode to work this morning and didn't get any KOM's, someone else has them. The route to work is all downhill so I see the irony in a KOM. I rode in on my MTB which has disc brakes. My bike stopped when I pulled the brake lever. Tomorrow I might ride my winter bike. It doesn't have disc brakes but it will stop too. I'm thinking of crisps while I type this post.

I was thinking of crisps too and should I walk or ride my bike to get them.

  • I was cycling yesterday and was passed by Luis Leon Sanchez. He didn't say hi, maybe it's because I was going up the mountain too slowly. Everyone else said hi...he clearly didn't watch the latest GCN show, or maybe he is too "pro" to say hello. I later ate dinner, which was nice. As I type this, I am drinking a cup of tea and thinking about scooping some local KOMs in a bit.
  • I was cycling yesterday morning and managed to completely c0ck up jumping onto a cycle path and now have a rather colourful and swollen bruised hip! Needless to say, I got back on and completed my ride with no further cycle path interventions.

I was not cycling earlier but I intend to cycle again soon unless I find out it's too dangerous.
I have a helmet and glasses.
  • I was not cycling earlier but I intend to cycle again at the weekend.
I have a helmet but no glasses.
  • I don't think this cycling malarkey will catch on at all.
    Advocate of disc brakes.
  • I have a similiar experience to the OP and some of the other posters.

I rode my bike and found it quite suitable for being ridden. I waved at some Llama's at the Llama farm but they didn't wave back. I assume they are mountain bikers.

In some areas of my ride the road was not a level gradient but overall it leveled out.

I also went out on my bike at the weekend. It was icy and I fell off once. I almost fell off again. I had to get off and walk in several places. My cleats were full of ice and I had to clear them out with a multitool.

I got home, ate a chicken panini and wondered if the snow will still be there this weekend.
  • I went out on my bike at the weekend. One thing I noticed was that the faster I turned the pedals, the faster the wheels went round. No one waved at me.

If you can find some kind of lever system on the handlebars then try pushing this, it could mean you go faster without having to turn the pedals any faster.

Be warned, I've not done the relevant testing but I have been told if you get the wrong leaver you may well have to pedal faster just to keep at the same speed.
