Anyone want to take a punt on who's going to win this?

Albasini, Costa, Aru, Wellens, Valverde, Rodgriguez and Gilbert up there.
  • Didn't recognise Costa in his actual Lampre kit.

Nice move by Martin while all the others just look at each other and practically sit up.

I see he got his pedals the right way round on the last tight corner there.

Valverde makes me laugh. He's the human embodiment of Einstein's quote that insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results.

Have said it before that Dan has always been one of the smarter riders of the peloton.

Also - that's how you win any race on easy on pro-cycling manager.

    God those teeth.

Hope he doesn't go to some dodgy south American Dentist to fix them...

  • Valverde Kwiatkowski'd again.

I reckon folks have figured out that if he's there, an early attack will probably pay dividends.

What was Contador doing, lying down when he should have been dancing on his pedals?

  • A brilliant win for Dan Martin. Showed his class with that one. I never thought I'd see another Irish winner of the Tour of Lombardy but now it's Kelly and Martin!

Dan went through that gap the way his uncle did to win the Worlds in 87, great ride, beautiful race. Good commentary too by Matt Stephens on Eurosport, very assured and confident.
  • Credit too for the "job of work" Ryder Hejsedal did in the last 15km there.

Valverde makes me smile. It's almost like the rest of the peloton now refuse to ride if he's there at the final, just so he won't wheelsuck to the win.

Well ridden Dan Martin, though. Another win for a brave attack.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

    Great win for Dan.

    Dan Martin @DanMartin86 · Sep 28

Anybody know where i can get some luck? Will draw the line at virgin sacrifice.

Everyone just watched him ride away - it looked like one of those 'blooper' style finishes where the rider goes for it a lap early and everyone knows it but them.

Pleased that Dan won his 2nd Lombardia. Would have been nice if he didnt basically have no opposition in the final 1km. Riders are funny sometimes. A bit crazy though that he could have had two monuments this year had it not been for a crash. Valverde showing his talent again, glad he didnt do the chasing this time - he does it too often. Its for the other riders to race - Valverde has a palmares they can only dream of. Shame that Contador crashed in the last 250m of a 250km race. Hope he is still good for Beijing. Anyone know the points scored by Valverde with that 2nd place?
