The new Bergamo Alto climb is a beauty. Takes in city walls and carries on all the way to the top right

I think either Purito or Aru will win solo in #Lombardia tomorrow. Just a feeling. Valverde & Dan Martin probably on the podium as well.

  • Is it the same finish as they had in the Giro in 07? Think Garzelli won that day, with Simoni just in behind.

    Also 2009, IIRC

I'd assumed it to be the same finish that they had for this race, from 1995 until 2003...................

Got really confused until I realised ES were showing the Tour de L'Eurometropole.
  • The good news is that Eurosport have been live for 10 minutes.
The bad news is that it's the German version.

    80kms to go.

11-man break at 4" splitting up now on the Passo de Ganda. Chavez pushing.
  • I'd forgotten what this race (and these hills more generally) looked like in the sunshine.

Lots of debris on the road, looks like it has rained quite a bit.

    Attack by Deigan/Brambilla.

Also, 5 left in lead group: Jeremy Roy (FDJ), Jan Polanc (Lampre), Sergio Paulinho (Tinkoff), Andrea Fedi (Neri Sottoli) and Chavez (Colombia)

Pozzovivo was dropped early on. That's about it. Hesjedal also seems to be in difficulty.
Kwaitek is pretty visible at the front.

I like the look of the parcours this edition - just needs 6 man teams.

Thanks both. Shame about Pozzovivo - still no news on who he's racing with next year AFAIK.

Forgot - Pozzovivo fractured his tibia and fibula avoiding a cat on a training ride.

    Indeed.

Peloton needs more guys our size.

Mollema, Pieter Weening, Ben Hermans and an AG2R rider attack out of the group.

AG2R rider is Cherel. The chasing group has caught Roy and Chavez, still about 1'50 behind Fedi/Paulinho, who are 2'40 ahead of the peloton.

    OUCH!

That would explain why he looks to be carrying a bit of timber, if such a thing is possible for such a wee fella.

Pozzovivo is actually back in the bunch now, although hanging at the back.
  • With the extra weight he caught back on, on the descent. :P

  • Bella Italia today.
Last climb, then a whole lot of nothing until Bergamo.
