I just wish I could be the ideal man in todays times. Be an all rounder, be able to fend of strangers in times of danger, be able to ask a woman for love and get to know her instead of every woman walking away from me soon as the relationship goes deep, to exercise like I use to many years ago, be able to be independant financially as the job I work in doesn't pay very well and when I'm married it will only be enough to afford a simple way of life without added luxuries like buying a new car or going on holidays. I want to be able to do more and say less. I don't talk much in public or when I'm at home I'm very quite type of guy. I was a teen only 6 years ago and feel like I've missed out so much in life. I believe my beliefs in god has made me some of what I am trying to achieve but more of a better person with more understanding of life and what god wants from us. After all, I believe the only mission in life is to discover our purpose and only then we can move forward and be involved in making progress. The only way for someone like me to do that is to perform worship without associating any partners to god and worshipping him alone and reading the final revelation. I use to be very tough at one point and if you went through the transition or phases I had to go through to get to where I am now you would see the difference it has made to me as an individual. I feel as though I've made a big change in my character and found a character that suits me, but not a diet which also would have been ideal, oh well.0 -

I understand what ya saying. I'm a bit off balance sometimes. It worked for me for a few months, but my stomach shrinked and stomach felt very restricted. But I can't remember anything else because it was kinda destructive diet which made me lose 2 stones in 6 weeks but to some extent it was good. I kinda saw it in the same lights as a models diet where they eat less and train more and are super slim. I've had 2 meals so far today and made a fruit smoothie as I think I'm going riding shortly. Haven't been for 4 days, what about you?0 -

No it wasnt. NOTHING was good about it. Anyway, im bored of arguing with you about this. Believe what you want to believe pal.
Nah was only on my bike to go to the market. Got 2kg of chicken thighs, which ive removed the skin and fat from. Made a simple but really yummy marinade with olive oil, salt, pepper, worcester sauce and a chicken stock cube. So ill leave them over night, bag them up in 2 or 3 and stick em in the freezer. Perfect for after work when I cant be bothered cooking properly. They go really, really well with sweet potatoes, which ive only just discovered - a quick, healthy and delicious meal!
Ill head out for a proper mtb razz tomorrow. Normally do 30km or so but that includes 1000m of climbing, 3 or 4 hills, so its quite a work out. I set a goal of 200km a month on my mtb which i should reach, tho it should be much more. Probably do about 40km a week on my other bike, just getting to work and so on but i dont really count that!0 -

I like olive oil and worcester sauce I recently bought a bottle the Lea and Perrins one which looks a bit like vinegar, very strong taste to it. Then again I've been told on this thread and by my brother to cut out sauces full stop. My uncle has a meat shop and soon to be meat warehouse in Manchester and we go there every month and order a large batch of chicken breast pieces for my brothers dietary needs, they look so succulent and tender before they're cooked I tell ya. They don't have any skin on them I think they are taken off at the butchers. I eat some chicken once every week or 2 weeks but a while back when I was doing a bit of training I would eat a whole chicken with salad, legs were the nicest parts to eat, the softest.
Anyway I'm kinda getting the jist of this diet thing now. For a while until I'm active 5 days a week on my bike I will stick to between 2-3 small meals a day, breakfast, lunch and supper and moderate but healthy snacks in between. I've just been for a 40 minute ride on my bike, came back at 8.28pm. Also just had something to eat, a small meal. Brown rice with vegetables and fat free yoghurt and a piece of thigh chicken. That should make a good recovery meal. I mentioned in some posts few pages back I was going to see a nutritionist, I think I will for further advice but my brother I will use for advice aswell from time to time as he did nutrition at university and he goes to the gym early mornings 4 days a week and does lots of cardio and light weights, he has less than 10% body fat and has a very toned body and solid stomach for his age of 23, very lean indeed. His diet is tremendous though, he eats 4-5 moderate meals a day, plenty of water and healthy snacks.
I would have thought you might have given up on chicken as it's factory farmed and has lots of diseases etc you seem to be enjoying it.
But yeah you got a good diet and plan and are focused on what you want to achieve from it. It's something I'll be aspiring to as my fitness increases. Time will tell0 -

Perhaps not the worst thing you could be consuming, but...
"They may consist of pure fruit but by the time you've got rid of the peel and mashed the fibre then you have already lost many of the potential health benefits. What you are mainly left with is a sugary drink. "
"Overall those who ate fruit cut their risk of developing diabetes by 2%, while those who drank it (more than three glasses of fruit juice a week) increased their risk by 8%."

Yh it's just info taken from a journal, I don't think it's accurate. The only way to find out is to try it for yourself and spot the difference. My brother has them 3-4 times a week home made with 5-6 different kinds of fruit, without adding water. It says in the article that the commercial smoothies made of fruit have 9 or more tea spoons of sugar in them, more than coke. I'm kinda beginning to like smoothies, especially vegan spinach ones with kale and stuff made in juicers etc

But you are willing to accept, word for word, a rather dubious and wholly unsubstantiated text from 1400 years ago.

Not all journals are correct. Yes I would agree with a text 1400 years ago because science is proving it now that is has statements which could not have been made by a man in the desert with no technology.
Went for a ride today did the 40 minute ride in 30 minutes, had a fruit smoothie before I went out and came back had some chicken and veg, steamed. Had fish and chips earlier at 3pm and a breakfast in morning at 10am.
I sold an item on ebay for £45, that's 3 items sold this week Can buy some new shirts now from Next or might leave it till next month before christmas sales, I kinda look odd with a little belly and check shirts don't look nice on a belly, you can't notice it though. lol
Anyone riding tomorrow morning and what you having for pre-ride meal? I'm not it's gonna be frosty.0 -

Yh I think you probs could lol, My fitness is somewhat increasing and I just read an article on internet and it said that cycling through winter gives you increased fitness to do more during warmer months etc and cycling uphill in winter gives you less of a sweat and overheat as in summer. I'm doing it 3-4 times a week now and having 2-3 small meals a day, breakfast, lunch and supper. I'm going to think about or consider eating chicken regularly as opposed to just once a week if I can't find a substitute for protein in vegetables at the supermarket, it's gonna do my heading again looking at all those labels to find the right content!
By the way, you know those XM-L2 Cree lights I recently bought after someone mentioned it on this thread a few pages back, where can I get an additional battery for it because the other one goes down after 4 days of constant use. Or would it be better or cheaper to buy a whole set again for £18.00 which would mean having 2 lights as opposed to one?
And also, I haven't taken my bike in for it's free 6 week service and it's berginning to make a rattling noise, I have a bike care plan for it. Am I still entitled to the free service even after 3 months?
And also I don't have any lube for the chain, halfords sell some for £12, is it ideal? I've got the de-greaser I bought 3 years ago, the lube I bought aswell I can't find in my garage anywhere. It looks like a little green bottle with a grand prix flag on it. Does anyone reckon I can get a cheaper one on eBay?
What do you lot use for cleaning your bike as I need to give mine a clean this weekend, might just apply turtle wax car shampoo on it and use a sponge etc0 -
Worcester sauce is a flavour booster, not a cooking sauce which your uncle is (probably) on about.
Just charge your lights after 2/3 uses.Advocate of disc brakes.0 -

It's behind you on the shelf.......... right there...... cant you see it?
Orrrrr splash out a couple of $'s and buy some new stuff......a few less ribena's each week and im sure you will be able to afford it.It's a boy , It's a boy , I Shouted Running Into The Street With Tears Running Down My Face.....

I found a bottle on eBay for £7, should do the job.

I'm beginning to fear Halfords may say at the bike service on the weekend that the brakes may need bleeding and it's £18 a brake, fearing the worst.0 -

I'm not too sure, I have to press the left brake fully until it nearly touches the handle bar, well almost. Will they charge me for fixing this and does this mean the brake needs adjusting? I've had it since August now and it seems like it's already starting to falter somehow. I will be giving it a clean this weekend after the service and as I speak I'm wanting to buy a bottle of Lube on ebay right now. It should arrive by Friday.0 -
Can someone just advice me on this. I want to make the purchase tonight but not sure if it's the right one as it says 'synthetic' on it and the other bottles don't, instead the other bottles say cross country on them in the search listings. It's also the cheapest from the rest on eBay.

You don't need a wet lube for riding around the park.
This is really good and just the job for the riding you are doing

Bit too late, I've ordered the lube, now what ..0 -
I use to use a de-greaser once a week after 5-6 rides a week couple of year back, was riding through the rain and sun and wind back then and I would apply lube after giving it a wash down with a hose. I tend to take a little pride in how I want to look after my bike.
Can anyone recommend any cleaning equipment, soap and brushes etc? or should I just pop down to halfords and buy some or shall I just use what I got at home for my car washes?0 -
Just as a little aside from someone who has worked a bit in bike shops:Cody wrote:I will be giving it a clean this weekend after the service
Its better to give your bike to the bike shop clean so they can service it better than clean it afterwards. In fact, I'd be pretty p*ssed off if someone expected me to work on their bike when it was covered in crap and do a decent job on it.
