No worries, thanks for replying anyway. I will go for the Rose wheelset I think as they take a wider range of tyre sizes (plus they look better!!) I just can't decide on which colour frame!!!!!

I only went for white because my Rose road bike is black and I wanted a bit of variety - and I'm glad I did now :-)

I'm edging towards the black frame at the moment but will post some picks once I get the bike!
  • The white won't kekeep clean, but it looks so good! I'm torn, will prob go for black as I will race it.

That does sound a bit long.

Both times I got a Rose bike I think the estimate was about 12 weeks (not sure though) but both bikes arrived a week or so early. Hopefully that will be the case for you too.

I have emailed to see if changing some of the components might speed things up. I was hoping to get the bike before Christmas :-(

MASSIVE RETRACTION!!!! Just checked the dates on my last order and........ I put the order in on 17th June and it arrived on 1st August, which is only 6.5 weeks.

Which just makes 16 weeks sound even worse. There must be some reason - probably worth a phone call???

I agree, just 'phone them, they will give all the reasons and then you will have accurate expectations. Mine took under 6 weeks as i recall, it seemed a terribly long time but it was well worth it.

Good to hear the positive feedback but strange on the delivery. I am debating whether to go for the same bike and was quoted 4 weeks wait last week. I see they also changed the availability symbol today from orange "we're working on it" to green, for presumably "go"? I was therefore expecting the time to shorten, not quadruple!

I'll probably go for black too (yes white is lovely too) and tempted by the 1850 wheels and carbon seatpost. It's so tempting to add more options and go way over budget! Shame there's no HyRd or Spyre brake option.
Let us know how you get on with the leadtime.
  • Ordered my dx 3000 a week or two back and was given a 11th November assembly date, so unless there's been a big rush of orders (from people reading various pro rose BR threads :) ) 16 weeks does seem very, very strange.

    I couldn't wait that long!

Oh and I went for the hard to keep clean white as I've had 4 black bikes in a row and the bad weather only lasts 4 months doesn't it?!? :) whatever colour I went for I'd have wished I got the other one a few month later anyway ;)

Any thoughts on saddles for the DX?
Despite the options on offer none of them seem to inspire (and some vile colours in there too). Or is the standard Ergon SRX actually any good?
  • I went for a fizik arione r7 (think that's what it's called) black with white stripe, was on the 2014 models and thought it looked better than the ergon one...no idea how good it is.

They must have a saddle on their site you like surely? Don't limit yourself to the configurator options, they'll swop out almost everything

I had two emails from Rose this morning stating that the black frame (size 60) is not currently in stock hence the 16 week wait!!:-( :-( :-(
But, they have offered to swap it for the White frame and it would be with me in 3-4 weeks!!!
    So, White it is!!! :-) :-) :-)

PS. I went for the Selle Italia saddle with white detail.

White is the best colour for CX bikes. I know this for a fact as I own one.
Make sure you also have a decent hose pipe and a wide selection of cleaning products. I think I spend more time cleaning my bike than riding it!

    Ordered mine today!
Went for the lighter Xeon 1850 wheels and the carbon seatpost and a few other bits including the standard Ergon saddle so time will tell on that one. The only downer is the delivery - 6 weeks due to huge demand for the highly rated new 5800 105 group outstripping supply. Not ideal but at least its on its way.

Ordered one today, size 56cm. Black and fairly stock. Gone for a 32 rear to get me through any terrain. Now it needs to hurry up!

Have had my eye on the DX Cross 2000 for about a year and think I will just bite the bullet and buy it. Especially if its a six week wait. Will be used as my commuter, winter club run bike and off-road trail bike with the family.

Noticed a few people have gone with the 1850 wheelset rather than the standard Crossone. Is there a reason? Are the 1850's better (although I guess its hard to quantify what better is). Whats the cost of the upgrade? The configurator doesn't let me view different wheels. From previous correspeondence with Rose I know it takes a while for them to show the full selectable configurations once a new model is released.

For those already using it can I ask what's it like to ride? Is it a harsh ride?

Also I'm 5ft8. I know there are many factors but what size would people recommend? I'm leaning towards 54cm.

Can't help with the wheel question, but I'm 5ft7, 29" inside leg and the 52cm fits me well. Mine has a 90mm stem and 165mm cranks.

    Hope that helps.

Personally I wasn't keen on the Mavics as I knew they were an entry level wheelset. I emailed to ask if there were any other options and the nice people of Rose offered me the 1850 wheelset with a small additional cost. I googled them and found out that they are lighter, had deeper rims and that the rims could take a wider range of tyre widths. Plus they rig some of their more expensive disc road bikes with the 1850 wheelset. This all made me think that they were worth the few extra quid. Hope this helps.

Yes, I came to the same conclusion on the 1850 wheels. From memory an extra £75ish. Just call them and they will make you an offer for any options you want.

Got a 62cm in white ready for mid November, 1850 rose wheels with 5800 chainset. The wheels 1850grams
With cartridge bearings are over 200grams lighter than the crossones but still good 28 spoke count. I paid £50 extra for those wheels. I got the chainset at no extra charge as their faulty website advised it was no extra cost where it should of added £40 to the bike. Currently have a boardman cx team that I race a bit, hoping the rose with lighter wheels will be an easier ride! Boardman for sale when rose delivered. Just got some Michelin mud 2 for this Sunday, will be muddy down the south!

Few changes since then - swapped groupset to 6700, seatpost to Thomson Masterpiece and ditched the horrible puncture-magnet Racing Ralphs for a set of Schwalbe Land Cruisers for offroad and GP 4 Seasons 28mm for road

I'm 172cm tall and went for a 52cm. Not a harsh ride, pretty comfy. Compared to a road bike its slow and dim witted on road. Steering is slow. However, it does eat up the winter miles and I don't really give a toss if I abuse it so I suppose it is fit for purpose. It's better off road. The Rose wheels are pretty crappy and I'm looking to get a set of Kinesis v3s or DT Swiss splines to replace them. My rear wheel alone with Land Cruiser fitted and all disc hardware and skewer is 2.36Kg and the front wheel 1.8Kg

Mine weighs 8.95kg inc pedals and road tyres in current form. Probably around 10 with SKS Bluemels and the Schwalbe Land Cruisers

You say that the Rose wheels are crappy but which ones do you have?? And crappy compared to what??
