Less than 3k to go, you'd think Froome is more worried about defending 2nd from Valverde now...

Contador could follow easily all climb, so no surprise he could ride away. Good effort by Froome, but he just didn't have an extra gear to break Contador.

Froome 15s down on Contador, another 40s back to Valverde

Performance of the race? Guardia Civil for me. Did a great job of stopping the fans harming the race over the last 3 weeks.
  • I don't think Carlton has worked out that simply by finishing in front of Valverde Froome is gaining time :?

Great effort from Froome. Contador dominant. More mushrooms.

Suspect we'll see a mirror image of these MTFs in the Tour next year.

Hey come on, be fair, it's not like he does this for a living or anything!

Contador just a level above everyone else. Race went for him completely after he got time on Froome on the TTT and in the individual time trial (to his credit). Like Nibali at the Tour, he was then in the box seat and didn't look like letting it go at all over the 3 weeks. Some nice sportsmanship from Froome at the end - as Contador being interviewed, Froome walked behind him, tapped him on the shoulder and offered his hand.
  • Not an explosive climb, more like a large, dull rumble.

    So who's a better climber?

    Pinot or Aru?

Probably Aru. He's won three GT mountain top finishes this year. Pinot's never looked like winning one.

  • Tomorrow's time trial might not afford Contador an opportunity to perform a victory salute but just in case he gets any ideas, I hope he has consulted his Ladybird Book of Mathematics. 7-2+1 =6! It will never, ever equal eight! :D

If in theory you had a broken (fractured, chipped, severed what ever it was) leg, and have surgery, get an infection, is the no needle policy reversed? Just thinking out the bag here.
  • Did no one notice the scumbag that threw something at froome in the last couple of km? Was missed by Kirby on Eurosport, look like a branch or something that hit him across the chest.
