Contador loses a couple more seconds to JRod and gains a few on Froome. I thought that was brilliant racing.

Contador is the best rider in the race but he's not good enough to finish everyone off.

No idea why they highlighted it on the profile.
  • Tomorrow should be good. Bertie was trying his best to put a good bit of time into froome with multiple attacks and froome just rode tempo. The mind games comment is true, think bertie losing it

  • Three idiots and they even speak the same langauge. If they worked together, they could have dropped Froome by a couple of minutes and he would be out of the podium games... instead they played and achieved nothing... no stage, no time, nothing...
They are seasoned riders and should know better

I don't think they like each other though. I think they'd all rather Froome won than one of the others.

At least he was honest before the stage and said he wasn't going to attack today. He tried yesterday and lost time, so you can't really blame him today.

If anything Valverde showed the most intelligence of the three. At one point he was at the front and flicked his elbow to see if they would work together.

My comment was anti-bonerfictations rather than anti-Valverde.

Contador was reeking of desperation to put time into Froome. No surprise the others just sat in and let him try. They can play him like that again and again and pull time from the bonuses.

That's pro cycling though. As soon as you show others that you blink first then people will take advantage of you.

It's a bit like what Ayrton Senna said about motor sport. If another driver tries to put a 50/50 pass on you, and you let him through rather than cause an accident, then everytime after that people know you will yield to them under pressure.

Using Valverde as the benchmark, they all seem to be pretty short of Nibali, he had a few gears in hand over Valverde.

Froome is playing chess - Has a strategy and is following it. Bert is playing Whack-A-Mole. See's Froome, tries to attack. Completely reactionary and not very effective.

Is there much more of the stupid steep stuff? Not looked at the route much yet
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

Agree... and Valverde surely topped his form for the Tour rather than the Vuelta

People are lauding Froome for being clever with his pacing and all that, but he's not going to win the race unless he puts time into Contador. He won't do that by yo-yo'ing off the back. He hasn't given much of a suggestion that he's got the form to actually gap his rivals at all yet.

I wonder if he's saving himself for tomorrow. He didn't seem to have many team-mates with him, which was a surprise given the relatively flat route leading to the final climb. Are Sky going to make it a tough day tomorrow?

He has been very open saying he is no where near a winning form. That's why he is riding calculated.

Is he riding into form though? There are still enough stages for him to claw back that time, but he'd need much better form than he currently has.

There's some on the MTF on stage 20. A couple of Kms at 15-18%, but it's near the beginning with 8km to go after it.

There is only tomorrow and the penultimate stage... the rest is easy stuff and the final TT... well, you can put 10-20 seconds into an opponent in 9 Km

At least the final climb was fascinating.
Three Spanish sprinters desperately trying to stay away from Mo Farrar!

Great rides from Barguil and Martin, especially after his mishap and long chase back.

  • Well I am really pleased for Niemiec even if few on here seem to care he won. Congratulations.

Good job that Contador has thoughts of attacking. Let's hope he puts together a sustained attack soon.

Valverde is something special. Few are able to maintain from from one end of the season to the other year after year.

JRod surprising jump up in form and im hoping he holds it - if Contador doesnt win it would be great if he did.

I agree those three should work together more but they never have and never will.

Aru; pure talent. Barguil; great job.

In US atm so cant watch these stages properly but hope tomorrow will be a cracker.

Nice that it is close on GC. This race could do with Quintana given he is not the type to hang on then sprint.
