I'm still in short sleeves, single layer and track mitts. About 10 Celsius in the mornings here in Lancashire; surely it's warmer in the south.
Admittedly, I don't tend to leave home until past 8am - probably a bit nippier earlier on.
Wales. It was 7 at 7 am today. Combined with rain, not awfully pleasant. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

okay peeps this thread needs pics or it didnt happen, you know the rules
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.0 -
10C is a bit low for August but it's hardly time for winter gear.I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0

Ok, so, this Gabba thing:
Wore it yesterday - froze and had to put a windproof layer over the top to avert hypothermia.
Wore it today - boil in the bag.
When, exactly, is it supposed to work?0 -

This.
Well partially. I starter with Sportful No Rain arm warmers on and was far too hot but once they came off I felt much better. I have a feeling that going home might be a different story.
Incidentally; the longer arms mean getting arm warmers off is a struggle and a half.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

Is it the short sleeved version?
Is it genuine?vermin wrote:Wore it today - boil in the bag.vermin wrote:When, exactly, is it supposed to work? The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Short sleeve, with no-rain arm warmers, per Asprilla, so doesn't have vents. Yes, it's genuine.
Additional windstopper shell helped as an extra thermal barrier, rather than as a windstopper.Asprilla wrote:Incidentally; the longer arms mean getting arm warmers off is a struggle and a half.
The good folk (I assume there are some) of Widnes witnessed my struggle over the course of about a mile this morning! I also had to pull my legwarmers down, giving me that enduringly-appealing Flash Dance aesthetic.0 -

I've spent so much on rain gear in the sales the last month I've been itching for some rain to test it out in...
...so had my gabba, no rain knee warmers and waterproof socks all ready (nanoflex arm warmers not arrived yet) and at the last minute thought nah, looks like its gonna stay dry and it's not cold so I swopped it all for my normal gear.
...and I was still warm - so glad I didn't wear it!!
I'm gonna hate myself in a few months/weeks for wanting rain and cooler weather0 -
I wear normal clothes bar some mtb/commute cycling shoes, Took the jacket today as was a bit wet, on way home still far too hot.
out of rush hour admittedly but the numbers of other cyclist seems to have dropped.0 -
I am about to pull the trigger on some winter boots. Northwave, as they seem kindly priced.
I didn't really need them last year but could have done with them before that. What do people make of them?x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

Flogged mine on eBay after a couple of rides and went back to overshoes. Good boots really, but nowhere near waterproof enough for me.
2° C here this morning. That's pretty damn cold.0 -

I have some shimano ones. Very good at keeping water out but, once it has found its way down the ankle, even better at keeping water in. Of course this flaw can be solved by the use of water proof tights or trousers. Size 43 if you're interested.0 -
Come on folks I know its unseasonably chilly but it's hardly cold is it? I was in Croatia last week where it was scorchio so I should be struggling with the temperature change but I'm in my usual summer gear. Chilly for the first 5 minutes but then warmed up - you need to go a bit faster :-)
On winterboots:
I really like them and am on my second pair of shimanos. Tend to use them November through March. They just seem a lot less faff than overshoes. As vermin says, they do keep the water in when it gets in the top. Have been known to wring out my socks on he station platform. I find that the secret is to a) wear socks that are lower than the cuffs (socks very effective at wicking water in to the boots) and b) wear tights OVER the cuffs (even simple non-waterproof lycra tights will tend to ensure that any water wicks down past the cuff rather than inside it)0 -
Damn, that does not sound very reassuring. I get quite cold feet in winter and in winter rides even a thick pair of socks and overshoes does not cut it. I still have some overshoes which I was planning on using anyway when wet.x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

Not yet cold enough for me to put the Gabba on, but the Fawesome is REALLY earning its place.0

Yeah but UE is in East Lothian - 2 degrees is positively balmly up there :-)
I'm joking of course, I'd be wrapped up at that temperature but a lot of comments were from southerners like me...0 -

One thing that really annoys me about this section of the Forum is that some people cannot see 10 feet outside of their immediate location.
I find it to be a really sad attitude. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
