Okay.
But he won't wear Wool amongst other things. So that means he's happy to wear man made fibre's (or go naked?).
Now we know that Polysters etc are a plastic, which is derived from oil and ends up in the eco system via the washing machine/poor waste management etc etc.
I'm trying to get my head around this one.
Devout Buddhists sweep the ground so that they don't stand on an insect, they don't eat meat, it's a long standing religion, so why not be a Buddhist instead of re-inventing the wheel?0 -
To summarise, you cannot exist without having an impact on your environment. Frequently that impact will be negative to other organisms. This applies to all life forms.Pross said:

He sounds a complete nutjob though, I respect (non-preachy) vegans for their principles but to not travel by bus in case it runs over a bird? Does he wear a mask to avoid accidentally ingesting flies and how does he avoid crush insects, snails etc. when walking? I should think all sorts of living things also get killed accidentally when harvesting the food he eats. It is literally impossible to live a life that doesn't as adversely affect other living creatures and even the most ardent vegans I know accept all they can realistically do is ensure they don't deliberately do anything that kills or exploits a living creature.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! I'm sure people could collectively make huge environmental impacts by doing small things but those actions require rationale.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0

Lily Allen on Lawrence Fox
"Sick to death of luvvies like a Lawrence [sic] Fox going on TV and forcing their opinions on everybody else, when he'll never have to deal with what normal people have to deal with in his gated community.
"BBC should be ashamed, this is not what we pay our TV liscence [sic] for."
The Smile singer also added: "Stick to acting mate. Instead of ranting about things you don't know anything about."1 -
Fair point, notwithstanding that Fox came across like a drunk pub bore.ballysmate said:Lily Allen on Lawrence Fox

Better to come across like that than the way Lily Allen came across.rjsterry said:

On QT, Fox said something along the lines of 'always bringing up racism was boring'. A mixed race member of the audience pointed out that as a very comfortable white middle-aged man, he might not be best placed to comment on whether racism was boring. He then accused her of being racist for accurately pointing out that he was white and male. This from the guy who dumped his girlfriend for liking an advertising campaign.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Mixed race woman states that Meghan has been torn to pieces because of racism. Fox refutes this 4 times before she calls him a white privileged man. He then complains how easy it is to throw allegations of racism and it is starting to get boring.rjsterry said:On QT, Fox said something along the lines of 'always bringing up racism was boring'. Apparently the tw@ts that tweet on twitter went into a frenzy.0 -

Ahahaha ok that explains a lot.
I do generally think it’s odd when people who are from the dominant side of the prejudices lecture the other side on what is and isn’t prejudice.
If you really think the “I don’t see colour” argument holds water, you really understand what’s at hand here.0 -
Though I’m glad he takes his own boredom as seriously as the racial injustices in society as they’re plainly equal.0
-
I don't recall lecturing anyone and I make no comment on Fox's boredom threshold.0

Just answered your straight forward question with a straight answer0

No sure - sounds like he was.
Presumably he feels it’s easy to spot from his social vantage.
Gets him a gig on QT though.0 -
There have been suggestions that the audience member in question was a plant. She has previously reviewed the newspapers on BBC Breakfast which challenges the impartiality of the producers who selected her question. It could of course be coincidence.0

Unsurprisingly Laurence Fox is proving to be quite a hit with the viewing public. Equally unsurprising is that he's not such a big hit in Cakestop.😀0

Reminds me of Kathy Burke’s response to Helena Bonham Carter moaning about how much easier life is for non-pretty, non-posh people.

If someone in this day and age cites racism without any evidence or even evidence to the contrary, what is the accepted response?
1. Refute the allegation and get called a racist or privileged because you can't see it?
2. Agree with the complainant that it is racism because you don't want to be called a racist?
Either way, the allegation will stand.
