It's very very good. But, as you say, for fast rides. The cut is excellent.

For the current price it's way better than similar offerings from Gore, Castelli etc.

I'd say it's warmer than something like the Assos Habu while being considerably lighter. And, it really is almost waterproof. I'd not wear it to go out in a torrent. But it will save you if you're already out

  • I bought one when it was first released a couple if years back and it's been quality purchase seeing me through some nasty winter weather. Ended up buying the orange one in the last sale because I'm a tart.

I would like to say thank you for pointing out the sale to me, my lad has always wanted a cycling jersey and they are doing the kids ones for £25.00.
  • I'm broke so this sale couldn't have come at a worse time!

Did pick up one of the winter jerseys in the last sale though - haven't worn it yet though but it seems pretty heavy weight and I hope it's up to the job.

The winter jersey is great in dry, cold conditions. I find it to be too warm above 5C but I run quite hot (except for my extremities).

Picked up a couple of pairs of their Sky socks (at online sale price) at the Excel Centre today. Girl working the till wasn't overselling them when she said they were incredibly comfy. Can't argue at £7.50 a pair (even if it is FPKW territory)

I was also tempted by the Team Sky gilet at half price considering Sunday's weather forecast but don't really want to be in team clothing for a sportive. Generally I have no qualms with wearing team gear as long as it's not the full works.

Orange XL Pro team jacket arrived today. Seems very nice, Now just got to wait for autumn/winter...
I was surprised by the size. Even though I usually take an xxl in castelli, the xl was plenty big enough. I had heard the Pro teams were small sizing, but it seems a pretty normal xl to me. I'm 43" chest and 34 waist

I had the team Sky gilet delivered this morning, it's a really nice bit of kit. Very very light.

I researched the fit of the Pro Team jacket at some length before getting one in May and yes, it's pretty normal sizing. In fact, if you take a L in Rapha wool jerseys a L in the Pro team jacket is fine.

I didn't try it on but it did feel good and had a nice looking cut. Just didn't feel I could drop £55 there and then on it.

I actually have a winter softshell that is a Radioshack Craft one. I know a lot of people frown upon team kit but you can often get them at really good prices later in the year and as long as you don't go full kit I can't see how it's any different to wearing your favourite football team's shirt.

Nowt wrong with that. There are some brilliant Garmin Sharp winter jackets at PBK right now. £98. Cheaper if you can find some sort of code. Properly visible as well.

My Sky gilet comes tomorrow. Given that it's Sky I've sized up. I've gone for the replica jersey as well to wear underneath. I don't like the labels but it's excellent kit.

My opinion exactly. When the pricing comes down you end up getting top quality kit at great prices just because the season is nearly over, what's not to love about that!

My Radioshack one was about £70 I think. Really good. So warm I rarely have anything but a thin baselayer beneath it. Has reflective piping too, so good visibility.

Let me know what you think of the gilet. Might make it a payday treat.

    If you're into team kit, try this site;

    http://www.cyclingcollector.com/boutiqu ... s-courtes/

This guy seems to be able to get hold of most team kits at reasonable prices.

He's just down the road from me.

I'm waiting on the 2014 OPQS kit to come in cos I like the more black style of this year.

Anyone got any reviews on the Sky gilet yet?

Due to an issue with some socks I've got a code that will give me free shipping when I get a replacement pair so might stick the gilet in the same order.

Not got the gilet, but all my 'pro-team' kit is fabulous although I do tend to size up one. I presume the Sky Gilet is from the Pro Team range (just with the logo on it).

I sent mine back. It IS nice. It's very lightweight, does what it says, and is very very packable. But, to get the best size I went XL. In the tucked position it bulged out slightly. The L would probably have sorted that but been very tight.

Wearing mine tomorrow for a 60-odd mile Peak District ride. It's forecast to be windy and we're setting off at 7am so it should get a good workout. I got the medium, I'm 5'9, 38" chest and it's a very snug fit.

I can't get into Rapha. I think it's far too expensive and I always get the impression that Rapha wearers are like the poser yuppies who used to buy Porche's back in the eighties. No offence meant, and I am probably wrong, but that's the impression I get.

    Porsche poseur.

You need to buy the Kings of Pain jersey and wear it round your torso.

Well I can say with some certainty that it's very wind proof and pretty waterproof too. We rode from Bakewell to Axe Edge then up to the Cat & Fiddle summit, then back. There was a raging headwind virtually the whole way going out and my core was never cold but I didn't overheat either, despite over 4,000ft of climbing in the first 28 miles.

There were some very heavy showers, torrential at times and for those I stopped and put a waterproof gilet over the top. For the light rain I didn't bother, when we got back to Bakewell my jersey was still dry.

It's doubtful I could have given it a harder test than that so I'm happy!
