Only a 3 weeks to go (a bit longer for the transfer window to close)!

Wondered what everyone's predictions for top and bottom are?

I think Man City and Chelski will take top two with 3rd and 4th a fight between Manyoo, the Arse and the Scousers.

Top

1. Man City
2. Chelsea
3. Arsenal
4. Liverpool

Bottom

18. Southampton
19. West Brom
20. Burnley

If United manage to convince a couple of quality players to sign then they might edge Liverpool for 4th.
Statistically, 6 out of 7 dwarves are not happy.

Looks about right. Hope Scum are in a permanent decline. Chelsea can't afford Costa being injured much - I am surprised they kept Torres, and Drogba is surely not a starter. Extremely well timed offload of David Luiz though!
  • Leicester & Burnley are dead certs, Swans, Wet Spam & Saints for the other place.
    Couldn't give a toss who finishes 1st/2nd/3rd/4th

Can I just remind you that this time last year most pundits had Burnley down as favourites for relegation from the Championship.........just sayin!

There's still 4 weeks left of the transfer window - not sure Mourinho has finished buying yet. I predict another forward is on the shopping list.

    Higher than 7th hopefully!

Van Gaal won't stand for it like Moyes always did.

We should have just got Mourinho when he came back to Chelsea, fancy going back to a club he already managed and fancy Man United not considering him when it was perfect timing. People said "He would just leave" so what! He could have at least been appointed for the time being like Moyes ended up being. We were supposed to keep Moyes for 6 years and he didn't even last 1 year.

Overall I think the OPs predictions aren't too far off the mark. Whether Chelsea come 1st or 2nd could hinge on whether they sign another good front man.

Mourinho is the kind of guy that will just grind out a title win.

I hate how consistent they now are!

As a pool fan 4th would be nice but really not sure about it right now. Trying to replace 30 goals, plenty of those self made could be an issue, throw in some questionable defending without a solid purchase there.

It's not just the 30 goals Hannibal scored, it was the ones he created for the likes of Sturridge that'll be missed. It looks to me like they've bought several "good" players rather than any great players and they'll either bed in early and Liverpool will do well or they may go the way of The Spuds after they spunked the Bale money.

I think Southampton will be OK. If they're in trouble come January, they'll have tens of millions to spend.

(Apologies to any Southampton fans for putting the curse of Finchy on you)

Hope they stay up to be honest. A decent club with decent fans.
I was torn between them and Leicester for the bottom 3. I just wonder whether losing their best players to Liverpool and the others itching to move, might be too much for them!

Spurs ended up with 3 points less than the previous year so they didn't exactly disintegrate. Liverpool needed to expand the squad more than they needed to replace Suarez directly, especially with CL this year. If the defence can improve with Lovren and Moreno that will cover off some of the goals in some way. There will be more signings to come, as with Chelsea. Agree with Stevo that there must be another striker especially after selling Lukaku...Cavani? he seems to be available

No one has mentioned Spuds really. Pottechino is talented. Maybe, they'll finish above Pool.

I'm not sure about Man. City, they don't seem to have done much to keep the squad fresh which is something all teams need to do regardless of success the previous season. Aguero will need to sort out his constant hamstring and muscle injuries if they are to stay at the top of the pile, I don't think he's been fully fit for a long while now.

I think Arsenal might make the top 2 but as Stevo says there is still 4 weeks of transfer time left so things could look a bit different when its gone. I can't believe Van Gaal has finished dealing, there is still a lot of mediocre players in that squad.

At the lower end I think West Brom will struggle, their squad looks really rather poor, and Burnley seem the obvious choice for the drop. West Ham might find themselves in there too.

Will we now get the definitive answer to the question - Can they play together?

Or will they be back-up to each other?
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Villa to get relegated rather than Southampton. As a part time Liverpool supporter I've got a feeling that they will miss out on top 4 with the distraction of the Champs League and lack of Suarez goals. Everton or Utd for the top 4 instead :(

Actually, Everton do have a bit of 'dark horse' potential, though interesting that no-one really fancies Spurs depsite their having had last season to try and get their s**t together.

TBH it would have been really interesting if Chelsea had got shot of Torres and bid for Hannibal...

Hmmn, fair shout...I'd forgotten about Villa. Can't be good when the owner put them up for sale immediately at the end of last season hence no further investment and hasn't found a buyer. A crap squad playing for a club where the owner has already thrown in the towel is never a good combination. Something the likes of Leicester and Burnley can profit from.

Which is probably why it's called the Premier League (as is this thread) and not Premiership.

The rugby thread is somewhere else. Actually there isn't one as not enough people are interested

Everyone's favourite punchbag United to at least challenge again. They haven't put a foot wrong all preseason and still have players to return to training like RVP. Last season was a joke but ignore them at your peril this season.

A boro fan not a MU one.
