    Wohooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2015 Gabba just arrived.

They nailed it. The arms are now super tight (though quite long). Much nicer. Same superb fit otherwise.

The only small point, the wrists are still rouched rather than the elastic effect that is in the pictures. But less rouched this year.,

Yes. Particularly if you can find it cheaper than RRP. So, the storm flap over the zip, better arm fit and mesh instead of drain holes in the rear pocket sell it for me. Also the lack of lettering. It's much nicer.

It rained this morning. I had the new Gabba on.

Thoughts? It feels lighter but still offers complete protection. The new skinny arms are excellent, no flap and feels warmer as a result. But in a good way. The fit seems better, but that's probably down to the better arms.

It remains about 99% waterproof. It would be good if they could find a way of taping the shoulder/arm seam to stop ingress there.

It's better. In fact, it's not much short of perfect.

well yes, if i was actually able to leave my house i'd probably have a fawesome in my wardrobe already. however seeing as i cant even walk yet it might as well wait until next spring when i'll use it. (unless a proper deal comes up for one)

thanks for the review Bender, did you have the previous gabba to compare it to?

Yes. Did have. I got rid of it a while back cos the flappy arms annoyed me. But I still have the old style short sleeve version.

As I understand it, the differences in the LS are the flap over the zip and slimmer arms. Is the body any different in cut?

Does that mean that the cut of the SS is unchanged and it is just the flap over the zip?

The cut is pretty much the same, but it does feel better, as I say I think that's mostly down to the arms. So the new SS version should feel much the same.

Obviously the flap is a great addition.

The new collar is also cut better and nicer. It feels lighter but also fits better without strangling you. And the inside has a mesh lining (the collar) rather than being just double material. That bit works very well in my view.

Why is the flap a great addition? Generally I find floats to be more trouble than they are worth as they have the propensity to get stuck in the zip. I'm not sure what function it performs on the Gabba.

Because it keeps water away from the zip. You won't get tangled in this one because it is quite large.

A few more observations. I retract my comment about the mesh lined neck. The old one had that. Didn't notice as it was black.

The new tail appears to be longer.

I don't consider that the Gabba to be waterproof (not sure it claims to be either). It's windproof and warm when wet.

The tail is very long on the 1st gen Gabba.

I don't consider it to be waterproof either. But the obvious points of ingress, shoulders, zip etc have been reduced by the addition of the flap. Crucially the cover will make that area more windproof.

The new tail IS longer. Almost 5 inches on the XL plays 4 on the old XL short sleeve.

Also the new tail now terminates half way across each front panel rather than terminating on the seam of the back panel so is considerably wider.

  • just returned my Gabba to Wiggle as wasn't happy with the fit (saggy pockets) maybe I just got it one size too big who knows, just didn't seem right for the money I paid so it went back.

Any one any thoughts on the Repel Jersey? looks nice along with the free shorts offer http://www.chapeau.cc/repel-pave-mens.html
  • I'm sure I read a good review of the shorts somewhere but no idea about the jacket.

In other news rapha have exchanged my sale bought rain jacket with a smaller non sale one - didn't think they'd do that for some reason...should be here in a day or two...the xl sorta fitted but I would forever have been thinking I should've got a size smaller (they sold out within hours of course)

No rush to test this or the gabba out of course - long may the warm weather continue!!
