How far will Purito get before he is overtaken by a Panzerwagon? :P

Can I just wish that Valverde has an absolute mare?

Chapeau. I'd pay good money to see Valverde with his head stuck in a tree. Or between some railings. Or in a bucket.

But this would be even better:

Thanks for the photo of Big Tone's bike. I heard it was a special one - bit much that wheel imo. 58T on there!!

There was a sweet tweet from Purito last night wondering if Martin would say hello as he ploughed past him.

Someone gone all in with the Valverde markings on the road. Saw about 50 in that last shot.

    Martin is struggling.
He's only a minute and a half up at the 2nd. CP. :P

There's at least a chance that Pinot's reported TT improvement can hold off a weakening 3rd week Valverde, despite the latter's better paper record and national champ status.

Nibali's margin vs the podium contenders could be embarrassing over 54km.
You think Nibali will beat Peraud? Interesting.

Jesus. Does Carlton actually read any of the press reports. Does he not know there's been a chest infection doing the rounds?

It's not actually a chain ring. It's one of these...

And now Tony's wait on the plastic chair begins.

Porte was using one of these in the mountains I think.

He should make more effort to stay up in the GC standings, solely so he doesn't have to sit around waiting so long after the TTs!

I hope his team packs him a cushion for these long waits. Those chairs always look so uncomfortable.

They've missed a trick with the bands on the wheel. They should have a spiral pattern something like below to mesmerise the rest of the field and ensure a win

I know there's not much to talk about during a TT, but Carlton is just horrendous today. I'm turning over to Sporza.

    Meanwhile Thomas overtakes Bakelants.

Konig 6th best time to Martin at first check. If he keeps that up he may move up a couple spots.

Sorry, Pinot. So he's in virtual second place.

I'm trying not to get too excited after what happened last year.

A more interesting check would be between Pinot and Valverde.
