Going to be a tough day for anyone trying for the lanterne. Looks like the peloton as a whole may miss the time cut.

French air traffic control are reporting an Airbus A380 has landed in the break.

Cheng is going to pull it to the gate with his teeth.

If the peloton had a powerful enough telescope to see the break, because of the time that the light had taken to reach them they'd actually be seeing what Simon Yates was doing two kilometers ago.

    Ooo that's a good one.

It is. I like 'Nellie' for Monsieur Chavanel.

Nellie, like the elephant? Well I wouldn't know, I'll have to ask Mrs Chavanel.

That's if they can see past Elvis and Lord Lucan who have been living undiscovered as chicken farmers in the gap

Gap now down to the amount of time it would take Usain Bolt to run 6.2km if he could sprint the whole way.

A bit of semi-relevant information: Today is the first time this Tour de France reaches a higher point than Holme Moss.

  • Break has lost a minute since it started raining (still at 9'49")... Yates hanging about at the back, which presumably means we should all start praising his tactical astuteness and race craft
