    Break back up to 9'15"...

This is what happens when they give Cheng a day off....

Think Giant are letting Cheng have his head in his personal pursuit of the LR classement, fine reward for all the hard graft he's put in for Kittel over the last week.

Poem time coming up. Here's mine - by ee cumming. Somehow apposite for the Tour.

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
    (touching skilfully,mysteriously)her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully ,suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
    the snow carefully everywhere descending;

nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility:whose texture
compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens;only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

I'm not much of a wine drinker so I am on the Warsteiner as they are riding close to the German border today. Very nice lager...

My Good God... Kirby is just horrific today. And that guy in the Dungeons makes it even worse. Enough to make a bad mood worse.

At least Kirby doesn't commentate like every sentence needs to shouted as a statement (à la McCrossan), but he is still driving me nuts.

    It's bigger than Lichtenstein.

We may see a separate Tour take place in that gap

So. Wine-Lodge in the break. Vinobali in the war room. Portad'or on manhoovers. That'll be Cheng with the Brie, then.

Steve... my other job is getting in the way of everything - although I could be doing a year off next year to follow some races... Lets see!

It is. I like 'Nellie' for Monsieur Chavanel.

Going to be a tough day for anyone trying for the lanterne. Looks like the peloton as a whole may miss the time cut.

  • 56km to go, break has best part of eleven minutes...

...meanwhile, Sky have just posted Pate's data for the Tour so far:
