I'm going into a meeting at 2:30. If the Echelon klaxon goes off, could someone phone my employer with news of a fake family emergency of some sort please?0

Yes, clearly nothing to do with the break having just 3 minutes and 95 kms to go."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

For the Echelon Klaxon, may I nominate the humble vuvezela? I got one for the tour but it unfortunately didn't turn up in time. It really is the loudest thing ever, going to have to save it for the CX world cup now...
Ooo that is a good idea about the Toblerone. Less so about the vuvuzela, the most evil thing to come out South Africa since apartheid.0 -

As opposed to there being nothing to get excited about until the end of course no no no no

Ah ok.
Till Monday I have the pleasure of Sporza who are instead discussing the GC leader qualities (or lack of) of Porte.
Seperately once the Froome thing dies down it'll be like an old Tour again.
No Brit interest for you lot to get all foamy at the mouth about.0 -
I was foraging for beer in a local branch of Park n' Shop in Tai Po and came across a bottle of Neubourg. I'd never heard of it so took a closer look. Turns out it is made by the Gulpener brewery of Gulpen, near Maastricht. I have ridden past there on numerous occasions.

It's gonna be one of those threads innit Steve
I ve taken to listening to the Cycling Podcast over the pictures for the first few hours of the stage now. But if you ve done that then this is the best thing I ve seen from the World Cup yet - http://screamer.deadspin.com/here-is-j- ... 1601968953We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

If we get enough references to Toblerone we can add it to his nicknames on Wikipedia :-)0

ddraver wrote:Who's more determined to make their nickname stick do you reckon? Rich with Gonzo or AtC with Toblerone?
Toblerone Boy would understand his nickname, he's not shy about his love for the 'rone. Gonzo for Nibbles will be a harder sell as good as it is.Correlation is not causation.0 -

Yep, The Toblerone Tassie has a certain ring to it. (I think RR might have come up with that first).Correlation is not causation.0 -

I don't know what you mean!
By the way, it's quite a nice beer. Quite a strong flavour, a little reminiscent of Duvel, though less alcoholic. Nice blue bottle, too...Head Hands Heart Lungs Legs0 -

I managed to get Ned Veelers to stick last year in the Lanterne thread.

Quite happy to go with toblerone for Porte. I think he might enjoy the "notoriety".
I may refer to him from now on as just "the Toblerone"0 -
When it's not Cheng Ji on the front for Giant, who is it?0

Yay, poetry corner...A bit of Wilfred Owen.
I used to regularly ride past the two American cemeteries near Maastricht - one near Margraten and the other in Belgium at Henri Chappelle. So sad.

That's what I thought, but recent photos show the facial fluff has gone. Also, hasn't he only got one side of his bum to ride with today?0 -

Someone who's about fifteen seconds away from flicking his elbow out to restore order to the universe.0 -
Talking of hills, I was on a field trip a few years ago with some kids on a small island called Tung Lung Chau just off Hong Kong. One of the outward bound leaders was English and I asked him where he was from. Turns out his mother lived next door to me in North Manchester about 30 years ago....
