Some nice details, except the Sky branding - would have been better with just the logos on the back

The advert that goes with it is good too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZ2RAxV7HNw . And the blurb: "Crashes are accidental. A man's essence is intentional."
I was almost taken in by it - after all if a cyclist is going to launch a fragrance it's going to be Cancellara or Pozzato.0 -
I don't even know what to say to this

Is there something happening in the top tube for front suspension?
Edit - no, http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/team-sk ... is-roubaix
Why is it the road bikes that go down this route always make a "hardfront" when MTBs showed that front suspension is more important...We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

I was just starting to warm to the looks of the new F8 and then they go and bring out this monster!
I wonder if it sprints well? I can't imagine it feeling great. At least with others like the Domane its only the seat post flexing.0 -
I'm in two minds about this. Over the rough stuff a rear suspension XC mountain bike IS faster than a hardtail as you've got more traction and I've tested my full susser against my cross bike on some rough bits, the cross bike FEELS faster because you're having your teeth shaken out but it's not. Speedo says no!
That said, will it be a pig on the smooth sections? If it gets a rider to that velodrome less fatigued (And also stops the wheel getting such a beating) it might just work. Suspension systems of today are a world away from the Bianchi's etc we saw back in the 90's. It's like comparing a Model T to a Focus.
It will either work well or be a complete disaster. I don't think Sky would ride something like this without fully testing it...
On another note, did anyone else think this was an April fool a few days late?0 -
I'm guessing it can be locked out for the smoother parts?Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0

Don't take this wrong but just exactly how did they show front was more important? I would guess that front suspension is easier to build and cheaper than rear but there is more weight in the rear that needs to be "controlled", if you will.0 -
I'm surprised it's UCI compliant.0

Have you ever seen a rear suspension only MTB? No.
Isn't it fairly obvious that you need to be able to steer properly so front suspension helps keep the front wheel tracking the ground?
Also when flying along singletrack, you can remove your butt from the seat, but you can't take your hands off the handlebars (unless you're very, very good (or crazy)).0 -
It's only 10mm of travel so it's hardly comparable to a full sus MTB.
Does seem a bit odd putting it at the back if the goal is comfort, especially if, as road.cc suggests, Wiggins has "sensitive hands" and triple wraps his bars. I'd have thought increased traction over the cobbles would be its biggest advantage.0 -

The mystery of Griepel's tarmac look-a-like bike has been solved - a new spring classics bike from Ridley.

“Everybody here is really really happy with it, it’s something that they’ve wanted for a while and it’s to go up against the likes of Specialixed (Roubaix) and Trek (Domane), it really is a truly high end frame, there is no doubt that this is built to battle it out with the other guys.”0 -

Interesting! It's interesting that for a Belgian company - and one with such extensive CX experience - that they ve taken so long to get here...We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

They had a slightly more classics oriented bike for a while I think, the Fenix maybe?0

Not much development in terms of bars and tape which seems the most obvious contact point to work on - Langeveld 's tape looks like a B and Q 3.99 insulating job0
