We did this last year. There is categorically NO Lanterne Rouge points jersey.
There is, however, a team competition... Lampre are looking like they're leading that :-)

Good work today from the Cannondale potato based rider King Edward. Marked Saxo's Jesus Christ Alberto! Hernandez Blastquiz, the two coming in last. I quite fancy him for a podium.

Anyone got the form book on Maximum Rich Cheese though? 38 minutes already - is he a serious contender, or is he soon on a flight home?

Numerous reports of him taking a tow from the team car, which suggests he's either cleverly marshalling his resources for a sustained tilt at the title or totally buggered. I fear he may be some sort of parallel universe Cippolini, and after a week of stunning LR breakaway stage wins he'll retire to post pictures of himself on the beach whilst everyone else flogs their way up the mountains.

Getting a proper sticky bottle heading up Outibridge... legs looked banged up... not sure he'll last the course...

We usually have a photo of the current leader as they don't tend to be famous. So here's Maxamiliano Richeze:

Richeze has a sore wrist after a fall a few days ago. Cobbles and sore wrists don't go well together. If he gets through tomorrow he may well win the LR. But will he get through tomorrow?

Was looking at their kit at a stand a couple of weekends ago. Quality with a sense of humour!

Bernie, Bernie, Bernie, you treacherous sod. What have you done?

Good to see Argh! Richeze!, Cheng and King Spud making it through the sort of day that could easily have seen the main contenders crashing out - presumably the organisers were hoping that the cobbled non-specialists would use today to make big gains, but they've conserved their loses well.

Burnt out? Always a concern in the early stages.

Always looked like that might happen.

I can't see Cheng taking the Lanterne, not enough experience. I think he's down there because he's genuinely burning himself out at the front, but he's going to be struggling to make it to Paris. He may hang in, but if he does it'll be because he fights to stay in the main autobus. That's no way of winning.

It's early, but king Edward is still my main potato.

They don't think Cheng will make it over the mountains, so they're burning everything he's got now and sparing their other riders. Sorry to say it, but I don't think the lad is going to make it to Paris.

What does he do when he retires? Chills in the bus for a week or goes home to see the family? Presume he wants to do both, with it being his 1st TdF
