Nice build, although I really do struggle to understand why people buy Zee Over XT/SLX for a XC bike, I guess Zee is the in thing
  • On the price side, Majority of stuff i bought were on a huge stock write down list with 75% off RRP which anyone was able to buy, they just got offered to staff before the public, to get rid of parts that werent selling, the next lot of products came from a box of parts that have been sitting in the warehouse for a couple years that werent on stock, that had been forgotten about so i offered what i though was reasonable, and the frame was on ebay, only parts i actually bought with my discount were the tyres, tubes, skewers (only 90p cheaper than our selling price, we make hardly anything off them), grips, bottle, cage, helmet and forks and i dont think i ever actually said what these cost me bar the forks (unintentionally) so as others have said the prices i paid are irrelevant to my discount

thank you all for the comments, i cant imagine ill be doing much to this now, im spending my money on my daily car to do a few bits to it, then concentrating building up my track car as my winter project, ill probably get new forks in the spring

brakes wise ill concede on the zee idea and go for some deore/slx/xt brakes when ive looked into pricing
  • where does your company sell these parts? Think you said they have an eBay/Amazon store is it?

would be interested to keep an eye on them for some similar deals!

www.Rutlandcycling.com is the main company website and Rutland Leisure Outlet is the shop name on ebay where we sell the usual cheap ebay goods
  • cheers, will keep an eye out on there

    hope your enjoying your ride!
  • Bought a shiny new part :D the 32t front chain ring was a bit small for me and i also wanted a narrow wide chain ring so on black Friday i bought myself a superstar lime green 34t narrow wide ring :D

  • It would be a very boring world if we all rode the same bike! Each to their own, personally I think it's great

Hi all, been a while since ive posted. A set of new xt brakes came up at a very good price today at work so snapped them up. quickly chucked them on today after work, ideally i want to cut the hoses down and swap the hoses to UK sides as they are the wrong way round atm, but they feel soo much better than the elixir 5's

In fact there are a lot of xt components going at 50% rrp atm, if anyone is interested.

Ive still got the 160mm floating avid rotors on it atm, i want to get the matching ice tech rotors (180mm front/160mm rear)

The temptation of all these XT components sitting behind my desk was too over whelming today at work so i ended up purchasing the double chainset, front and rear mechs and shifters to replace my zee stuff, i kept my SLX cassette and chain.

    Zee parts removed

A new fork would have been a much better upgrade than Zee to XT! Anyway, if you get close to making a profit selling the old kit then it's fine!

Well as youve just said its cost me nothing really.

Sold the elixir 5's for the same price as my brand new xt's.

And i should easily sell the zee parts for the same price as the XT stuff, only paid £84 for all the xt parts, far too good to miss, wouldve been stupid to not buy them!
