Just on my way home on the train with glass of red wine in hand toasting your achievement.

Looking to my left I see a hill with a big chalk white horse on it (which I shall call white horse hill) and pondering "Wonder how many times up there it would take to be the equivalent of what MRS has just done?"

I've only had one (large) beer. TBH, I'm pretty dehydrated despite the fact that it was actually freezing on this hill this morning (ice on the van we left there). Quite a few people were receiving medical attention for the cold after the first ascent (fortunately, being a commuting type, I understand the concept of cold mornings and was suitably equipped (any similarities to Daddy Pig, my TV persona, are purely coincidental). Great day - very emotional (I'd claim the tears were from descending but I was climbing at the time and crossing the finishing line). I'm drained in most ways. I will certainly write it up more thoroughly and post a link to the Garmin page which should look quite amusing - especially the elevation which will just be 6 triangles in a row (actually - not quite - we descended by van because it was so bloody cold already (calorie deficit not helping) and one of our team needed medical treatment for over- exertion.

Thanks again for all your support. I can hardly believe I've done it myself

Thanks all. 10-hour drive back to Eindhoven and then 2 hours on the train - hope to be home by midnight. Then fly back to Scotland on Saturday. Think I'll sleep well. Had cramp in my foot last night - crap sleep last night. I think I've only managed 7 hours max in the last 2 nights

Thanks for all your kind (I'll take them that way ;-) words

I'll admit it was all a bit abstract to me until the big day - I knew it was a big challenge, but not having ridden anywhere like that, I couldn't really get a handle on the scale of it - but the live tracking really gave an insight into the effort you put in. Massively impressed, and looking forward to the detailed write up.

Well done - a truly great achievement and I look forward to reading all about it.

I've only ever driven up the Alpe and our hire car struggled at points on its only ascent! You have my utmost admiration for doing it multiple times under your own power!
