Having ridden this climb only once and knowing how difficult it is, I cannot image how you are feeling at the moment

So which do people think is harder psychologically - 4th or 5th?

Fourth means you've got a lot of tiredness in your legs with quite a bit more to do.

But fifth *isn't* the last one, which could be a real block.

I think the 2nd because you've just done the first one and it hurt like a bitch and now you know how loooong the day is going to be

As I recall most of us asked the same of some poor sod that broke himself repeatedly training to do an ironman.

    5 down - 1 to go. Need to eat though - I'm
Really running on empty. Last one got really tough. It's very hot

Excellent, well done. Think how good the beer will taste at the end, never mind the satisfaction of having achieved something truly spectacular.

6 times up Alpe Du Huez - that will be some achievement!!

Just keep that in your head as you go for the 6th, and the cause that you are doing it for.

Totally in awe. Nice work thus far.

This is it MRS - you never have to ride up that tarmac again. You can say goodbye to all the little mental markers you've made as you go up. Go for it!!

Yes, well me asking the question was rather the point, if you see what I mean.

Big fingers crossed for the last ascent though. Feeling hungry is a bit of a worry - the times when I've been riding and ended up not eating enough to feel hungry have not ended well.

Is the only cut-off now 5pm local time to start the last ascent, or is there a cut off at the top, I wonder. That would be fecking cruel if there were.

I prescribe one ice cold lager, per climb, minimum. Followed by a good nights sleep.

    Chapeau!
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Poor MRS, even 6 AdHs won't quite manage this...

Damn - it's nearer 9x up the Alpe! If I get to 6 by lunchtime, I might give it a go... :wink::wink:

Just wondering if the above is still being considered? :D
