Pirazzi, an even more annoying rider than Voeckler.

I enjoyed how dismissively Arredondo dropped him.

Would love to see him win today but I think that his only chance is if the GC guys fanny around on the final climb

Pretty much. He's riding well but it's hard to imagine him staying out on the final climbs after being away so long.

Rolland is bridging across steadily on this descent and maybe they could make something work as a duo.

e: nvm I'm dumb completely blanked on there being more riders between Arredondo and Rolland.

    Lovely racing by Team Rolland.

Rolland has got a decent chance of winning the stage here. With so few domestiques for the GC guys they are likely to attack/slow down rather than set a steady pace.

Quite a few AG2R riders must have got back on during the descent. They've got four guys there.

4x more AG2R rider's in GC group than Movi  BMC represented. Group slowing. +2:40 Arredondo.

Hmm. Not a fan of Rolland so hope not. Not sure he can best Arredondo on this climb. Depends on how much of a rest he had while in the GC group

The gap to Rolland and Pirazzi is going out. Tells you what a good job Arredondo is doing.

And Pozzovivo's team can mug a defenceless Quintana. Movistar invisible for last 20km.

The support Movistar have mustered has been really poor so far. It was excusable when Evans and co attacked off the crash since I'm sure they had riders held up in that, but it's the first week of a GT and they've got nobody with their main GC guy on the first stage that actually gives him an opportunity to take time back.

I'm suprised how poor the picture quality is. Didn't RCS jump on HD bandwagon a few years ago?

Rolland slowly chipping away at the gap. Touching 1 minute now.

Actually I'm not sure I trust the time gaps. It just went from 1:04 to 1:15 really quickly.

Time to rename no-man's land, Europcar. Rolland stuck at 1 min to Arredondo for days now.

Anyone know the exact km Arredondo went solo?

Don't know exact but I'd guess 138-140 or so (or a bit over 40km to go if you want it that way around)

    Arredondo attack

    15:56:20 CEST
Arredondo is now on his own with 2km to the top of the climb.

Arredondo attacks and drops both his companions.
