I'm just praying for someone - preferably Nairo or Uran - to pull back time from Evans today0

I'm just hoping you get the OP sorted before Crankbrother turns up.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0

I have enjoyed the Giro so far. Some riders are more notable by the absence than stellar performances, but it has been great. The Grand Depart was simply fantastic.0

Not sure what will happen with regards to the scheduled tv coverage.
Eurosport reckon they are going live at midday, which looks very early.
Far too early for Rai Sport 2, in fact."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

“Dove osano i pirati” (‘Where pirates dare’), a film showing the last part of today’s stage, together with early on some clips of Pantani, and later a few photos of him.
The song by Francesco Bejor, used as background music near the beginning then again near the end, has the same title as the film and is about Pantani.
“You took off on your bicycle among the roses of a hotel
towards timeless peaks waiting just for you
with the heart of a capricious and a bit old-fashioned child
a wide-eyed child from Romagna
Words are over, we follow you with our eyes
as you dash off like a rocket to your finish line
and may the crowds of the past be the wings around you
of a love that was missing when you were amongst the mortals
Now rivers of useless words flow
some facts, back when you were all alone, would have been better
and all the memories are crowding in just one moment
just like many bicycles struggling against the wind
but you are already speeding off tenaciously, stamping on the blessed foot
of an angry Saint Peter who addresses you in dialect
and shouts at you "today we’re closed, we open tomorrow"
you pedal and answer him "let me pass, I'm Pantani"
And we, simply minor characters, salute you as champion
who made my generation dream
now go, with your bandana and clenched teeth,
and sprint this last time where pirates dare.”0 -
Cameron Meyer, a DNS.
In the first 20 km, Sky set the pace at the front and pulled in any breaks, however about 16 riders have just gone 20 secs clear.0 -
Break shortlived, lasted not 3 km.0

Looks like the peloton are letting a group of about 10 go. EBH was the only one I saw from the brief glimpse.
Vorganov there I think.0 -

Eurosport might as well turn off again now for 4 hours.0

Matthews having a chat with Evans, I wonder if it is him passing the reigns over to BMC now.0

Now chatting to Movistar. Does look like he's saying we're not chasing today.0

Now Movistar.
Very interesting seeing all this.
Claire Balding in the break.0 -
Just a load of kids messing about on their bikes.0

Adam Hansen a minute behind the front group.0

Arredondo in with a great chance of winning the stage assuming the crash didn't take too much out of him.0

Tranquilo. What's that strange ball in the Sky?"Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0

So, Quintero has joined Scarponi in having a pop at Cadel riding on after the big pile up.
No feeling too great.
Perhaps it might have been an idea to have an actual race, instead of the last minute departure from

That's a fairly useful looking group out front. Never paid too much attention to it before, but today's break managed to get an 8m 30 gap in the space of only 11 mins riding (according to CN text commentary). Is it typical for the gap to go out as quick as that? Or did the whole peloton stop for the loo?0

Was just going to comment - sun! The riders ought to neutralise, we don't want anyone getting sunstroke or crashing on melted Tarmac.
The break will be happy to have EBH to tow them to the climbs before dropping him. Someone needs to ask Pirazzi to drop back, I picked him on PTP for tomorrow not today.0 -
It's saying 7' 17" on ES now0

That has to be a mistake, 11 miles maybe but even that is pushing it.0 -
