The only stage of Dunkirk I saw was them doing laps on a deserted prom. It didn't look the most inspiring race if I'm honest.
Then you missed the bloody race.
Do you wake up to the Tour de France when that is on the Paris circuit and measure how good that event is. ?

The Prom was empty because of the foul weather and those restaurants had very few customers.
They normally park behind the buildings and on Sundays it is a busy place with a lot of moules being eaten.

He cycled back to the hotel on his TT bike. Not sure how far it was.

Any of those that actually watched the race notice/hear that Cookson is in Cali (nice UCI holiday) and here he is out the blocks:

Just watched the Stage 1 finish; goodness me John Degenkolb has a horrible sprinting style. His head bounces up and down more than a Churchill dog!

Ah, you've not noticed the nodding dog before?!

Wiggo is looking super lean. Love it when he is on form mentally and physically. Fustrating as hell when his inner chip is on holiday!

Looks like he is carrying more muscle that a couple of years ago maybe?

Looks lean tho - skinnier than 2013 Giro - no gut at all.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere - Dekenkolb on bike sprint footage from stage 1.

    I would embed it but I can't.

^That's interesting. This isn't just Degenkolb though, is it? - switches bikes at around 53 sec when Cav comes past the camera, then he passes again on the line - shame there's not side cam to see this.

I wasn't entirely serious. Quite good of Giant to post the clip, given the unscheduled appearance of Cav on the line.

That's fantastic. No wonder he got pipped, that was a 300m sprint with Cav tracking him.

So there is! Still, makes sense to stick it in the actual race threads I suppose.

Cyclingnews reporting that it's incredibly hot all the way to the top of the finishing climb.

Let's hope there's no 'ascending like a girl' today. Would love to see Wiggo win this and get in the Tour team.

The descent has been and gone. In the valley on the run in to the finishing climb.

I can see them moving this race. Racing in over 40 C is ridiculous.

Is Shwerwen paid per 'Amgen' mention? I know they need to keep the sponsors happy, but....

Suppose it depends on how common these temps are in California in May. I know there was a climb last year that they kept going on about the heat too.
