Valgren was absolutely flying. Chava was having to dig deep just to get on the wheel after he came through.
Great stage.0 -
Just caught up, cracking day's racing - nice to see two riders working together right to the finish then fighting it out fair and square. Excellent ride by Morkov too.0
-
41k to the finish, lead group of nine at 4.20 ahead of peleton. Chavanel and Demare in peleton - IAM working to bring lead group back.0
-
-
Pressure by IAM on the ascent of the Vigneau de Licques has reduced the peleton down to c40. Gap now 2.40 with 33k to go.0
-
Chavanel attacks off the front of the peleton0
-
Geslin and Fedrigo working hard to bring Demare back up to Chavanel0
-
Chavanel, what a rider.Contador is the Greatest0
-
20k to the finish. Chavanel and Tronet (BIG) have c20s on peleton but are still about 2min behind the lead group with a Big Mat rider Rosetto. another minute ahead of that group.
This could be the day Chavanel wins the 4 days.0 -
Unfortunately Tronet is not too keen to help Chavanel as his teammate Rosetto is still leading two minutes ahead. Rosetto could well take this stage0
-
Demare pretty strong. Him and a handful of riders have caught Chavanel who never looked super smooth. Chavanel is going to have to attack again if he wants the GC.Contador is the Greatest0
-
Chavanel now caught by Demare group which also contains Michael Valgren Andersen.0

Eurosport actually manage to change their live scheduling, in order to turn up early
and screw up their proposed recorded coverage.
Way too late to figure out how the race broke up."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

It was on for a long time on French tv.
Just broke up because the peloton is not particularly strong and there are no teams that can hold it together.Contador is the Greatest0 -
This BigMat guy seems to have his gear stuck in 53x15Contador is the Greatest0

Arndt and Hupont, both GShim managed to attack the pack and get a good gap! No one reacted.Contador is the Greatest0
-
6k to finish. Pichot, Veukelen and Kowalski from the original group close in on Rosetto. This group now c1min on chasing favourites0

No idea...its always been like that.
Nice little highlights show on this French stream at the end showing how the race unfolded. Essentially just a shedload of different attacks from various riders, turning it into a race of attrition.0 -
Was originally a four day race. For some reason it was thought appropriate to have a 5 day (6 for a while too when there was a prologue) race to be called four days when it changed in the early 60s...0

Always seems to lead to good racing. Partly due to a couple of stages that are lumpier than you'd expect in that part of the world, partly due to crosswinds, partly due to weakened WT teams and probably partly due to lack of radios.0
